We could be facing a government shutdown if Republicans in the House don’t do their job. Speaker McCarthy and I came to an agreement on spending levels for the government a few months ago. But now, House Republicans refuse to stand up to the extremists in their party—and everyone in America could be forced to pay the price.

BREAKING: Donald Trump desperately begs the Supreme Court — which he helped stack with right-wing psychopaths — to protect him from New York Attorney General Letitia James. Typing away furiously on Truth Social, Trump claimed that he has been "unfairly sued" by the "Trump Hating" James due to the "false fact" that he "inflated" his financial statements in order to borrow money from banks. This is, in fact, exactly what Trump and his criminal Trump Organization did — and Attorney General James has the receipts to prove it. She is suing him for $250 million in penalties for his fraud. Trump then dug his legal hole even deeper by attacking the judge for the case, accusing him of being a "Trump Hater beyond even A.G. James." He whined that he is "not even allowed a Jury!" Since it's a civil case, there is no need for a jury. Not done there, Trump then engaged his caps lock like a lunatic and ranted that the "fact of this case are simple" before unleashing a series of bullet points. "1) I AM WORTH MUCH MORE THAN THE NUMBERS SHOWN ON MY FINANCIAL STATEMENTS. " "2) I DIDN’T EVEN INCLUDE MY MOST VALUABLE ASSET, MY BRAND." "3) THE BANKS WERE PAID BACK IN FULL, SOMETIMES EARLY, THERE WERE NO DEFAULTS, THE BANKS MADE MONEY, WERE REPRESENTED BY THE BEST LAW FIRMS, & WERE VERY 'HAPPY.' THERE WERE NO VICTIMS!" The fourth bullet point was particularly pathetic for how much its rings of Shakespeare's famous the "lady doth protest too much" in its over-long, over-explained nature— "4) ON THE FRONT PAGE OF THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS THERE IS A STRONG 'DISCLAIMER CLAUSE' TELLING ALL NOT TO RELY ON THESE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS. THE DISCLAIMER CLAUSE TELLS ANYONE REVIEWING THE DATA, INCLUDING FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS, TO DO THEIR OWN RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS - IT IS A NON RELIANCE CLAUSE, AND COULD NOT BE MORE CLEAR. ADDITIONALLY TO MY BEING WORTH FAR MORE THAN IS SHOWN IN THE 'FULLY DISCLAIMED' FINANCIAL STATEMENTS, AGAIN NOT PUTTING DOWN A VALUE FOR MY BIGGEST ASSET, BRAND, THE COMPANY HAS HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN CASH, AND VERY LITTLE DEBT." The fact that he is trying to go so into the weeds here shows that he doesn't have a leg to stand on. Trump ended his Truth Social tirade by insisting that the Trump Organization is a "great company" that has been "slandered and maligned by this politically motivated Witch Hunt" which is "very unfair." He then called for "help" from the highest Courts in New York State, or the Federal System, to intercede." The highest court in the "Federal System" is, of course, the very same Republican-controlled Supreme Court that struck down Roe v. Wade and rolled out numerous other far-right rulings. Trump is hoping that they'll do his bidding. If they do, the court will finally destroy the last of its faltering legitimacy. Your government is shutting down b/c @SpeakerMcCarthy only cares about keeping his own job. So to stay employed he’s cutting off paychecks for millions of other jobs. He has plenty of Democratic votes to keep government open but he’s a failure. Time to choose country over chaos.
