Wanted to politely add a slight tweak. In competitive weightlifting the objective is to move as much weight as possible from A to B. What confuses people is both forms of activity train in the same place with similar equipment. And both forms will increase size and strength. But the form of training that you expertly advocate for is optimized for safe and efficient increases in muscular size and strength. Competitive weightlifting training is optimized to win weightlifting competitions.

Competitive weightlifting lifting and exercise are completely different. The first is a sport where the objective is to move a barbell from A to B. In the second, resistance is used safely and efficiently to stimulate the production of muscular strength and size.

Barbell bench press is the universal test of upper body strength. I’ll argue that controlling dumbbells, the equivalent of a full 150lb human in each hand, that’s the true test. I try to do this every few weeks to see where I’m at, and getting 7 reps is okay with me! Katie was being nice trying to prevent me from dying, but I knew I had that rep so I politely declined the spot. Watch til the end for the real feat of strength!

@BenjaminBadejo Very cool stuff Ben. Tremendous utility in this kind of tool. Curious if Apple will release some capability at WWDC that will be similar.

Imagine being able to invoke the most powerful frontier AI models with a snap of your fingers, and speak to them in real time without your phone or computer. Or, OK, not a “snap,” but the Apple Watch “double tap.” Soon.

@BenjaminBadejo A possible blend here is heartbeat python scripts that run w/o AI to do the initial discovery. From there they decide if an AI driven agent is needed at launch it. Allows for fine high BPM checkins w/o excessive token use.

"I'm to old to lift weights" is the most damaging excuse for Boomers because sooner or later it becomes the truth. I have 5 clients who are over 80 I have another 20 or so in their 70s. Don't buy into this.

@caydengineer Can you cite some useful examples of the deployments you mention above? Can builders create their own apps that don't require posting them on the Mentra App Store?

Ready to build? 100's of companies are already deploying Mentra Live. Use the open-source Mentra Cloud SDK or Mentra Bluetooth SDK to build and deploy apps on smart glasses: MentraGlass.com

A top body builder claimed modern trainees focused too much on perfection and not enough on brutal workouts. Guess what? Training with perfect form is by far the most brutal way to workout.

@andrewchen @JayRughani I’ve built out a “Health Portal” as a directory that I can interface w that combines my data from Apple Health, 23 & Me, Function Health, daily logs, etc. and advises on diet/exercise/etc. As sensors/data collection become more ambient, this is the future of preventative care.

“Dr AI” is a thing now. Before we call our doc we ask an LLM. After we meet w our doctor, we double check w AI. Anytime there’s a decision who do we ask? This is just the beginning- so much more coming to healthcare and AI- @JayRughani lays it out below 👇🏼
Jay Rughani@JayRughani

I want to fund infinite healthcare apps. AI that delivers more care and less paperwork. Companies like @CounselHealth, @EvidenceOpen and @TennrOfficial are leading the way. If you are building this future, I would love to chat.

@DanielPink That's really interesting and broadly what I'm seeing in real life. There's an overarching problem with research in AI. It is developing so fast that by the time an 8 month study gets released and peer reviewed there's no way to know if the findings are still valid.

Every AI pitch promises the same thing: Do more in less time. Finally get to the important stuff. Work less. New research from Berkeley followed real workers for 8 months. That's not what happened. 👇

On a single day-May 2nd-there were 46 million new Codex installs! Last week 86 million installs! This must be one of the greatest explosive growths of a coding model ever! There’s a reason why I became a Codex addict, why it’s the first thing I get on in the morning after coffee!

@Chug2024 @CharlesFLehman Yes! It was a great time to be alive! In 1900: - Infant mortality: 166 per 1,000 live births (1 in 6 infants died before age 1) - Child deaths: 30% of all deaths were children under 5 - Farm labor: 10 hours primary work + 2–3 hours chores 6 days per week

@TomSteyer Well, if you really care about trucker employment, just mandate two drivers per vehicle at all times and all trucks must always be at least half empty. Voila!

@TomSteyer In the spirit of Milton Friedman, why stop there. Let's outlaw trucks and go back to horse and wagon delivery. Big employment boom for coachmen, blacksmiths and wheelwrights.

This is a great article and does a great job describing the difficulties that firms are having in successfully transforming through AI platforms. Another equally important issue: Most executives (or for that matter rank and file associates) have little understanding of the comprehensive capabilities of AI. Most are stuck at the chat bot level. Without understanding agents, harnesses, context engineering and AI architectures in general, it's hard to visualize how you would use AI to transform your enterprise.
