Absolutely incredible. For two decades, Tom Bennett has consistently supported schools in sanction & discipline matters, no matter how cruel or excessive. Yet he throws his support behind an alt-right parent with a dark past who appears to be manipulating his child for grift. 1/4

@rickygervais It's not a misconception. And any self professed Christian that is proud and boasting of their foul language has some serious self-reflection to do about whether that behaviour reflects Christ's. It is precisely Atheism's stance as "absence" that lends itself to evil.

Had a fascinating conversation with a nursery teacher of almost 30 yrs. She was saying one of the biggest changes she’s seen in recent years is the number of children who say ‘no’ and simply refuse to follow any adult instruction. She said it used to be super rare but not now.

@S_Oberle @Emma_Turner75 I’ve also noticed more parents introducing their little kids to me using my first name. My dad was in the Army and rank and title were big deals. I still call my mom’s 80 year old best friend “Mrs” and her husband “Colonel.” I just can’t imagine calling her “Fran.”

@RumeliGirl @S_Oberle @Emma_Turner75 Afraid there's quite a bit of research that shows that creating gaps between us will just form a different kind of refusal to do tasks, usually with far more negative behaviours. Building relationships with students who are our peers works if done correctly.

@AdamHighcliffe @AnnaFazack1 Just as there is critique for being restorative schools by many zero tolerance leaders, so must we look at zero tolerance and the evolution of abuse within it. I'm glad this is highlighted in the papers, it is far from the only one like it.

RP is not a behaviour management tool. If you're going to do restorative, do it properly or don't do it at all. It harms its integrity. Claims there's no consequences, then I would say that's not restorative approaches! That's something else. bbc.com/news/articles/…
