No need to threaten Civilian Infrastructure. Instead, the President should make the following clear declaration: For every Cargo Ship or Oil Tanker that Iran fires upon in the Strait of Hormuz or anywhere else, the US Navy will seize 10 Oil SuperTankers or when they run out of SuperTankers will seize 10 Vessels carrying Iranian Oil or such other Products of the current Iranian Terrorist Regime. The US will hold & confiscate said Vessels and will sell the oil or other products they contain at current market prices in US Dollars. The US shall use the proceeds of such sales and the Vessels themselves for the following purposes in the following order: 1) To fully recompense any Shipping Company whose ships were damaged by Iran and to fully recompense any sailors harmed in such attacks or the families of any sailors who are killed in such attacks. 2) If any Ship attacked by Iran is sunk or damaged so as to put it out of service, the Shipping Company shall receive a Vessel of similar value from the seized vessels. 3) The direct costs of seizing the vessels will be held by the US to cover the costs of the seizures. 4) Remaining Funds from the sale of the Oil shall be held in Trust in US Banks for the sole benefit of the Iranian Civilian Population and shall be distributed at the point of the US’s discretion at the conclusion of the conflict. 5) All vessels seized not transferred by 2) above shall become the Property of the US Merchant Marine and shall henceforth be used as directed by the President of the US. 6) From this date certain all attacks on international trade or shipping by Iran or its Proxies shall be treated in this manner. And this proclamation shall be ex post facto in the sense that with the next such vessel damaged or destroyed by Iran all vessels previously attacked by Iran shall cause the same 10 Ship Seizure for each such ship. 7) Any Ship under any flag that is carrying Iranian Oil is subject to seizure as stated above. 8) These Seizures shall be deemed just compensation for the economic harm caused by any such Iranian Attacks on International Shipping and shall be deemed a “Prize” of the Conflict. 9) The US in the sole Discretion of the President of the US and/or his assigns may but is not required to return Flag Vessels of Foreign Nations not Iran or its Proxies after selling the contents of such vessels on the open market at current market prices in US Dollars. But only to the extent it chooses to do so. 10) Any Nation not in armed conflict with the US may bid to purchase such oil or other contents of said vessels in US Dollars at current Market Prices. The above is a response to Iranian attacks on International Shipping or Trade and directly impacts the Iranian Terrorist Regime without harming Iran’s Neighbors, its civilian population and assures that all Shipping Companies are fully compensated for any losses. It avoids the destruction of infrastructure in Iran that will be needed to rebuild the nation of Iran after the current Iranian Terrorist Regime is replaced. It stops the funding of the current Iranian Terrorist Regime with the Internationally Sanctioned Oil and other products. It permanently removes valuable assets of the current Iranian Terrorist Regime from their use. It makes crystal clear to all that trading in sanctioned Iranian Oil or other products or commodities will not be tolerated during this conflict. All such vessels may be seized by the US Armed Forces anywhere on the High Seas or anywhere in Iranian coastal Waters. I believe as it is directly responsive to the threat to shipping, it is both appropriate and wise.
