Drive a Toyota. Chaos every morning. Loud house. Full dinner table. Be honest, which life are you choosing?

@martin_casado That domain knowledge is evolutive and difficult to codify. I do belive all the knowledge graphs, ontologies etc are fundamental to really unlock the next level of gains.

I work with multiple companies where nearly all code is AI generated now. However, the productivity probably has only increased 20-30%. Why? I suspect because writing code is really running code. Changes are the result of a business learnings. Or an operational learnings. For mature companies, the majority of PRs are sub 10 lines codifying these learnings. AI clearly helps here (e.g. debugging, running tests, building tools) but less so. Operations and business learnings are workload and company specific. Until AI can perfectly predict what the market needs, or how a system will be used this bottleneck will exist.

La de HOSTIAS que vamos a ver con el tema de la IA va a ser de órdago. En Informática llevamos DÉCADAS evitando los single point of failure y, de repente, las organizaciones abrazan de forma entusiasta que todo su ancho de banda técnico dependa de 1 caja negra que no controlan.

Propuestas concretas: 1. Marco nacional -de mínimos- para licencias urbanísticas. 2. Plazos máximos obligatorios y silencio administrativo positivo en determinados supuestos. 3. Ventanilla única digital con trazabilidad (como cuando sigues un envío). 4. Fast-track para proyectos que aumenten oferta (obra nueva y cambios de uso). 5. Homologación de criterios (menos “depende del ayuntamiento de turno”). 6. Fiscalidad para vender rápido y reinvertir no penalizado. Esto cuesta poco dinero público. Pero libera muchísimo capital privado. La vivienda no es un misterio. Es matemáticas + velocidad. Deja que el capital rote. Deja que los promotores construyan. Y deja que las familias compren para evitar los contratos de alquiler.

En España la compra de la primera vivienda llega alrededor de los 41 años. Eso significa años perdiendo el “efecto bola de nieve” de la propiedad. Y mientras tanto el país necesita muchísimas viviendas para cubrir la demanda. Lo absurdo: el mercado quiere construir y el capital quiere financiar. Pero el sistema está diseñado para frenar el ciclo. En España el cuello de botella no es solo “falta de suelo”. Es burocracia + fragmentación. La misma promoción - a 10 km de distancia - puede tener: otra norma otro criterio técnico otros plazos otra interpretación Miles de normativas dependiendo de cada ayuntamiento. Resultado: incertidumbre, retrasos, sobrecostes y menos oferta. Construir vivienda es una habilidad. Mejora con repetición. El modelo sano sería: Construyes. Vendes. Devuelves capital al inversor. Reinviertes. Vuelves a construir. Así crece la oferta. Pero hoy el sistema son tiempos interminables para minimizar inseguridad jurídica. Y en la práctica dificulta rotar capital. Y si no puedes rotar capital, construyes menos. La solución no es un plan “nuevo” con titulares maravillosos. Es una visión estatal que estandarice y acelere.

We’ve recently opened an office in Austin Texas. From the data I’ve seen average salaries in Austin about 25-50% higher than London, rent is about 30% lower for the same type of apartment and taxes are 50% lower than the UK. Plus you can live within 20 mins of the city in a multiple bedroom house with a pool. Then for most people their landlord comes to them at the end of the year to reduce their rent as it keeps dropping year after year. Turns out supply and demand is a thing and if you build a lot more housing rents drop. Who knew 🤔

Putting out fires before they spread does not seem like a serious technological challenge in a world with @SpaceX, @xai and @anduriltech. So @elonmusk and @PalmerLuckey, why don’t we start a company that uses satellites, AI, and drone technology to put out fires before they spread? One can envision satellite monitoring, rapid drone investigation, and drone swarm water delivery. The number of drones sent to extinguish the fire and the nature of the extinguishing agent (water, foam, dry or wet chemicals etc) would be a function of the nature and scale of the fire. No human lives would be put a risk and there is no risk of DEI involvement in drone selection. What do you think? I would love to invest. And it would be very good for real estate values in California.
