@lathiat @QuinnyPig @TheRegister FWIW we're regularly balancing our headings and writing so that we present stuff in a way that's fun and informative, and in a way others don't, can't or won't - but without (as I said on HN) we're alienating future audiences
It's a balancing act
English

Whomstever at @TheRegister did this masterwork of a headline: your money is no good if ever we’re drinking at the same place. It’s my second favorite you’ve ever done.
DMs always open.

@lproven Oh shoot, wishing you all the best in your healing and recovery
English

@sadams_s @brokenbottleboy @iainthomson Well, I hope you can give us another shot in future. We're a rather different team these days
And funny you should say that about old stories, an important task this year is reviewing the archives. How we handle previous coverage that doesn't sit well in 2023, specifically
English

@diodesign @brokenbottleboy @iainthomson Of course.
However:
The disinformation articles remain posted, without correction or acknowledgement they published in error.
The offending columnist was left in post for several years, no editorial control.
Just sayin.
Tarnished brand for me (I used to read it every day).
English

@sadams_s @brokenbottleboy @iainthomson Publications go through eras of editors, who decide what is and isn't worthy of coverage. They also encourage particular viewpoints they agree with.
And FWIW that earlier era is over. Editors move on, editorial teams change over time. General ethos continues in other directions
English

@brokenbottleboy @iainthomson Awful bunch of articles and interference in comments sections which tarnishes the editorial integrity of El Reg.
Question has to be asked: why was he allowed to do it?

So where is RISC-V at in the datacenter? Wonder no more: don't miss @TDaytonPM's interview with @risc_v CEO @Calista_Redmond
From microcontrollers and China to server-class processors, we review the state of play in this article below

@jackclarkSF @kyliebytes That time Billy Idol was booked to play at Dreamforce
twitter.com/iainthomson/st…
@iainthomson@iainthomson
@oliviasolon Possibly the most cringeworthy Dreamforce gig was when Billy Idol played years ago. He changed the White Wedding lyrics to "It's a nice day for - CRM!)
San Francisco, CA 🇺🇸 English

@kyliebytes still shocked that they brought out the President of Haiti to profusely thank Benioff for what Salesforce had done for the country. wild stuff

@smikedickinson What would be on a Brit cheese board: Cheddar, Wensleydale, Red Leicester... I've not had RL for years. Smoked cheese doesn't exist here as far as I can tell
San Francisco, CA 🇺🇸 English

@diodesign Dairy industry interest group the British Cheese Board never fails to amuse me.

@BlaineGaither @TheRegister It's a huge risc for Arm, going toe to toe with Qualcomm
San Francisco, CA 🇺🇸 English

@diodesign @TheRegister It would seem that a RISK-V license is, in this case, less risky than one from ARM.
English

@wren6991 Or rather: ALAs aren't necessarily broad or open to transfer, so if you buy an ALA holder, you don't necessarily get the ALA nor can use it for whatever you want.
It's gonna come down to the fine print and what Qualcomm is using exactly from its acquisition
San Francisco, CA 🇺🇸 English

@diodesign So an ALA licensee acquires another ALA licensee, and the IP evaporates in the middle? Oof. I bet every current licensee is watching this suit closely.
English

@diodesign Could be that Nuvia was targeting just servers, while Qualcomm wants to take the cores to PCs and smartphones, and Arm wants different terms for those markets.
English

@UK_Daniel_Card Do us journos still have to have a big red badge that says MEDIA on it?
