When this is over, the western part of NATO will never be the same. Spain, England, France and Italy have sold us out, as they too often have a history of doing. I fucking hate the “minimum wage is for high schoolers” talking point. A. No it isn’t, that’s historically inaccurate. B. Telling a kid to work hard and earn money the “right” way, then turning around and saying he deserves less just because of his age is bullshit. Pay should be based on performance. Nothing else. If you’re against raising the minimum wage, that’s fine. Make a better argument that isn’t belittling kids trying to work hard and earn something for themselves.

And while I disagree with his position, I recognize it’s an acceptable view to have in a democracy. If Josh wanted to see that change it’d be via constitutional amendment - which won’t happen because this isn’t a substantive majority opinion. And that’s how our democratic constitutional republic works. It prevents executive or courts, and even simple majority from changing fundamental rights based on the opinion of a minority or the weather of the day. And that is critical. You may not consider it critical on this particular case - but it is the fact that sometimes you find the process inconvenient, that makes it valuable when it protects YOUR rights.
