@McGillPatterson @jlockett02 @RocketPulpHack The problem us sufficiently widespread and entrenched that there is no alternative to being sharply punitive in cases. And realism recognizes that even that will take several rounds across multiple decades until deterrence is established. The alternative looks like 2016-2024.

@zagrebbi The US right clearly cares about power as much as the US left. The most obvious fact of this is the cultivation of Fed Soc to deliberately take over SCOTUS, end Roe v Wade, tighten screws if not outright end affirmative action, soon end VRA Section 2 districting requirement, etc.

It’s a mere “redistricting win” for Democrats but a “gerrymandering loss” for Republicans, as if Republicans were the ones trying to gerrymander but failed. Can’t wait till the Germans run out of cash and are forced to sell Politico to Alden Capital.

After their gerrymandering loss, multiple Republicans say the party should’ve spent much more, much earlier to have a better shot at blocking Dems’ Virginia map. Now they're putting pressure on Florida to give them back an edge. politico.com/news/2026/04/2…

Republicans won Virginia in every single presidential election from 1968 to 2004. Even won it with Bob Dole in 1996. But George W. Bush’s presidency brought certain changes to Northern Virginia that forever tilted it to the left. McCain lost. Romney lost. And Trump lost the state as well. Republicans have shown signs of life since then, most notably 2021 with Youngkin and the GOP’s strong rebound in 2024. But Bob McDonnell in 2009, in response to Obama’s shock victory in the state, is the last easy election Republicans will ever have there.

They don’t pay social security taxes. New York public teachers do not have to pay the 12.4% social security tax. If you didn’t have to do that, you would diligently invest 12.4% into the markets and end up being able to retire at 55. But NY teachers aren’t savers. Probably wasted it all on happy hour.

Gov. Hochul eyes pension boost that could saddle cash-strapped NYC with $328 million bill — which could cut into a good chunk of the estimated $500M the city is supposed to get from new second home tax, via @ccampy —> nypost.com/2026/04/16/us-…

Democrats have seriously been trying to give Washington State away to Republicans for pennies on the dollar for decades and Republicans keep refusing to accept the free gift. I mean really, Democrats have staked positions designed to force out Boeing, Amazon, Starbucks, and Microsoft and yet Republicans will keep being like, “Best I can do is Tiffany Smiley.”

So reckless if true. Him and Thomas need to be responsible and go enjoy a well-earned retirement. I don't want their legacy becoming conservative versions of RBG. On SCOTUS, once you are over 75 (maybe even 70), you should retire the next time your side has Senate and White House. Because it could be 4-8 years before the next chance, and at that age, decline or death can be sudden.

Fox News: Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito is not expected to step down this term and has already hired all four law clerks for the upcoming annual term despite speculation the high court justice was weighing retirement, multiple sources said. Alito "is not stepping down this term and is in the process of hiring the rest of his clerks for the next term," a source told Fox News Digital. Two other sources told Fox News that Alito is not retiring this term, which lasts until the Supreme Court's new year kicks off in October.

@LPDonovan My gosh…. You guys really are clueless when it comes to the Dem base. I like her and supported her. She won’t be the nominee. Voters are already saying, she had a chance and this country is not ready for a woman.

In that case, are you willing to pay a modest trillionaire & billionaire tax to pay for checks to working families? We could start with the modest $3000 check @BernieSanders and I have proposed for families under $150,000?

Universal HIGH INCOME via checks issued by the Federal government is the best way to deal with unemployment caused by AI. AI/robotics will produce goods & services far in excess of the increase in the money supply, so there will not be inflation.
