IT’S COMING HOME: Canadian oil and gas explorer Sintana Energy Inc. has announced plans to list on the Namibia Securities Exchange (NSX), in a move aimed at giving local investors and Namibian youth direct exposure to the country’s fast-growing offshore energy sector. The company confirmed on Tuesday that it has appointed IJG Securities as its sponsor and corporate adviser, and has initiated discussions with the NSX regarding a potential admission to trading. If successful, Sintana intends to explore mechanisms to improve liquidity for Namibian investors, signalling a broader push to localise participation in the country’s oil and gas boom. Sintana’s Namibian director Knowledge Katti said the planned listing reflects a long-standing ambition to ensure Namibians benefit directly from natural resource wealth. He framed the move as an opportunity - particularly for young people - to build generational wealth and take ownership stakes in Namibia’s emerging energy industry. Katti added that the initiative aligns with government priorities under the Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6), which emphasises youth empowerment and inclusive economic participation.
