@AlphaLima783447 @Boenau Yes its a known fact that cities become more walkable with protected bike lanes too. People love the buffer between walking and general traffic and projects often go hand in hand to improve both, especially at side roads where turns often become much slower and safer for all.

@Boenau Let's also point out that while this mentions bicycles, there's no indication that sales are related to bikes. The sales increase could be primarily due pedestrian safety changes and increased foot traffic. #BanBicycles

NYC was an early adopter of protected bike lanes and started tracking the outcomes. After their 8th & 9th Ave projects were complete, locally-based businesses saw retail sales soar. Residents are going to spend money somewhere, but they're drawn to safer streets. 💰💰💰

This from Martinelli on Bradley is vile. If Arsenal fans defend this, it says everything

Induced demand: If you make space for people to use bikes to get around town, then people use bikes to get around town.

@Boenau Often, yes. But you still need to account for seasonal weather that makes biking infeasible. Also, bike lanes need protection by something more deterrent to vehicles than a painted line.

@declanmartin75 @MelbOnTransit We did a school street near here in February and it vastly reduced the traffic here. Was a great knock on effect.

@declanmartin75 @MelbOnTransit It’s on a rat run too. It’s tight so anything bigger than a car would have to turn over it. For me you just raise the side road but I appreciate that’s a cost. Also just make it exit or entry only. Even better close it.

@MelbOnTransit @PierreVairo The tactile paving in the middle is of interest. My question is that if someone with a vision impairment starts to cross and feels the tactile, what should they do? A. Stand in the middle and hope for the best B. Keep crossing and hope for the best

@PierreVairo @doclangers It was. There was a painted outline there for at least 3 or 4 years prior. Then this unraised concrete thing was put in. Note that this corridor is an important walking and cycling route to the station, connecting it to major parks, sporting and recreation venues.

If you watch one video today, make it this one. This gentleman explains with clarity and courtesy the impact the proposed two-way cycle lane for the A23 in Streatham and its floating bus stops will have on his life.
NFBUK@NFBUK

Blind Lambeth resident raises concerns over the planned floating bus stops in the Streatham Hill scheme & asks @clairekholland to halt it. He says he was never consulted on it. @Keir_Starmer @LordPeterHendy @LordBlunkett @SteveReedMP can you help please (warning collisions shown)
