HSBC registered the complaint in 4 days after RBI ombudsman was raised.
In 6 days, the 3000 points and 50% joining fees was granted.
For service deficiency, I demanded 10k points. Initially bank tried to negotiate down to 5k points. I rejected it and it was raised to internal Ombudsman. Another 3-4 days and 10k points were approved. That’s 22k worth of Accor stays!
Don’t let banks take you for a ride. Always demand what you are owed.

Raised RBI ombudsman against HSBC T1 for refusing 3000 points on 1L spends. At this point, I have stopped fighting with banks. Ombudsman is the right tool to get banks on line, when they don’t respond to your complaints. For any bank, who isn’t crediting points, refusing offers, etc. Raise a complain to bank grievance, wait for 30 days for either rejection or no response. Send a reminder mail. Keep all proofs ready and raise RBI complain right away and wait for the resolution. No need to beg banks for attention. Just complain when they don’t respond.

Luckily, since it’s HDFC, he can try the ITR route and may still get Infinia.

I usually take 1–2 full weeks off lifting for summer vacations, and there’s hardly any change in my physique. Actually I look better.
