@SuryaSankar90 This Airport even has planned HSR connectivity. If it gets halted, it would be a monumental fumble

Every part of the original tweet is a logical fallacy. That has already been established in the replies. But reading this triggered a curiosity about Parandur's location. I had no idea that it is such an appropriate location for an international airport. Maybe even better than Sriperumbudur. 1. Excellent rail connectivity with Chennai proper via the existing suburban rail network as Tirumalpur station is just 10 mins away - which has trains to Chennai via Arakkonam and Chengalpet. We just need to invest in better trains with AC coaches to run in these lines. And then we also have the planned Yellow line of Chennai Metro which will directly connect Parandur to Chennai via Poonamalle. 2. Four Sipcot industrial parks within 1 hour travel radius 3. Ranipet industrial town within 1 hour - potential to develop Ranipet and Vellore 4. Kanchipuram town within 15 kms - can become Chennai's satellite town If land has already been acquired, it is an unacceptable waste of resources to change it from an airport to Sipcot. Sipcot will also use arable land. So the original complaint against the airport is null and void. And an international airport which can provide excellent connectivity for 4 already existing Sipcots within 1 hour radius is obviously much more economically beneficial than building 1 more Sipcot with poor connectivity ( Parandur Metro will no longer make economic sense if there is no airport). Hope bureaucrats can convince @CMOTamilnadu that he is doing a monumental mistake by abandoning this project and will be remembered for generations to come as the one who stopped TN growth story. I hope that is not how he wants to be remembered.

Parandur is 72 km from Parrys corner -time taken sitting inside car to getting out 2 hr 13 minutes Add 20 minutes to hiring an Uber and vehicle reporting. Total 2 hr 33 minutes Add 30 minutes to travel to collect terminal entry, luggage trolley and travel to check in counter . 3 hours 3 minutes. And most international flights call for 3 -4 hrs check in before departure for immigration etc So one needs to prepare 6 hours in advance to travel to parandur. 5-6 hrs early For 40 mts flight to Bangalore For 50 mts flight to Kochi And for 30 mt to one hour fligts to Tuticorin,Trichy, Madurai,Salem, coimbatore. So most will reach Railway station 25 mt before departure ,travel royally and less risky and safely in Vande Bharat in style with scenic beauty . So Project Parandur in effect making all Tamilnadu airports reach a slow death . Hope @CMOTamilnadu stands firm. If he yields he will never be able to Govern on matters dear to him. What people don't understand while comparing with Bangalore and Hyderabad is that those cities are land locked. Those comparing Chennai to Bangalore and Hyderabad airports are missing crucial point. Chennai is having sea connectivity and India's second largest container terminal. Tamilnadu is a manufacturing hub of heavy machinery and big Industries. Chennai has a port which can handle giant cargo and machinery and India's second largest container. Every big machinery made in Bangalore ,Hyderabad needs to come to Chennai port for export. Same with heavy duty chemicals etc. Kudos to British for developing Chennai port which is an artificial harbour in 1880s. Request @CMOTamilnadu to focus on Chennai harbour development challenges and invest there rather than an airport which can harm fertile lands and also inconvenience passengers. Let us be pragmatic and not wild dreamers chasing Flights of Fancy. Connectivity to Parandur is a 15 year Project by itself . @TVKHQITWingOffl @CTR_Nirmalkumar @Keerthana4VNR @BussyAnand @imrajmohan @TIDCO_1965 @TVKVijayHQ

Whoever hyping about Parandur Airport & calling if it's dropped chennai will go backward 🤡 Parandur is not in Chennai. 80 kms away from Chennai. It's in Kanchipuram. Let me tell you the reality as I'm from Kanchipuram. Kanchipuram is one of the biggest manfacturing hubs in Asia - Hyundai, L&T, Renault Nissan, Foxconn, Saint Gobain - There are multiple companies like this which is well established but You know the reality of Kanchipuram district including towns & villages? - No proper roads - No proper sewage system - No traffic management even inside Kanchipuram town. - No Malls or Parks - No HiFi cinema threaters like PVR - The bus stand we have is built by Anna in 1950s. No upgrades after that. Though the contribution is high in terms of per capita income, infrastructure of Kanchipuram is the worst even in the main town of Kanchipuram. All the people in Kanchipuram have to travel to Chennai for their job/studies on weekdays. Even for leisure we should go to Chennai. First give us proper roads before coming with airport. Basic amenities are important for us & even for the farmers. Even the villages nearby SIPCOTS doesn't have proper roads or bus facilities. Ithelam pannitu apuram airport ku vaanga. Only chennai is improved as a city but no other districts in KTCC have that much infrastructure. Whatever we sow, chennai only reaps it & grows. Chennai grow aaganum nu engala already backwards ku thalliyachu. If Airport is that necessary choose some other land, I'm sure lot of lands in Kanchipuram have been sold to real estates & buerocrates. Get the land from them. Parandur connectivity is a #2040 realistic estimate and knowing our timelines it will be a miracle. It is not that planners have not done their broad homework . But Parandur is for Gen Alpha not for Gen Z Future plans but may not materialize in next 15 years . The travel time from Chennai Central station to the proposed Parandur Airport is currently estimated to be around 2 hours and 20 minutes by road. This distance is approximately 68.5 km from MGR Chennai Central Railway station to Parandur. Connectivity Planned: Metro Rail: A significant aspect of the connectivity plan involves extending the Chennai Metro Rail. There are plans for a new metro line from Poonamallee to Parandur, which is part of the phase-2 extension from Lighthouse to Poonamallee Bypass. This line is expected to be 43.63 km long with 19 elevated stations, enhancing direct metro access to the airport. The project aims to facilitate travel between the existing Chennai International Airport at Meenambakkam and Parandur in under an hour once operational. Road Connectivity: The airport will be connected via a dedicated route to the upcoming Bangalore-Chennai Expressway, which would improve road access from various parts of Chennai and neighboring regions. Railway: Parandur is close to Tirumalpur Railway Station, approximately 10 km away, suggesting potential for rail connectivity enhancements. Future Transport Innovations: There's mention of exploring more advanced transport solutions like a hyperloop system, potentially allowing a 15-minute journey from Meenambakkam to Parandur although this is more speculative at this stage @TVKVijayHQ

Those who misuse temple money are in trouble from now on! For many years, there have been numerous complaints that devotees were being cheated and illegally charged at the Thiruchendur Temple, but no one really took action until now. But today, our HR & CE Minister @RameshOffcl quietly went in disguise and conducted a surprise inspection at the temple! During the inspection itself, some individuals were caught red-handed after allegedly taking ₹4,000 from the Minister. 🤫 Strict action is now guaranteed! This is just a sample warning… The Minister is expected to carry out similar surprise inspections in temples across Tamil Nadu. Those who are doing wrong or even thinking about doing it better stop right now.

G. Sundarrajan@SundarrajanG

This is very important and timely news to hear at this critical juncture. If this project is dropped, Tamil Nadu, especially Chennai, will be saved from a serious disaster. Already, many parts of Chennai are becoming increasingly unbearable, raising serious questions about the city’s future liveability. The State Planning Commission report has also clearly highlighted that large parts of the Sriperumbudur region are witnessing a sharp temperature rise. Beyond the environmental impact, the Parandur project would have also damaged Tamil Nadu’s decentralised growth model, which has been one of the state’s biggest strengths. After Bengaluru airport was developed, growth in other parts of Karnataka largely stagnated, with no major activity spreading across the state. A similar pattern can be seen in Hyderabad as well. Those supporting this disastrous project are indirectly pushing the narrative that Chennai is a “disaster-prone city.” More importantly, such a move risks weakening the idea of balanced, all-round development across Tamil Nadu. For those of you who want to sit in cozy chair in an air-conditioned room and do only "X"ing, please read through the links to understand why Paranthur is Not needed and against the Growth Model of Tamil Nadu". poovulagu.org/topics/alterna… thefederal.com/category/news/… As @poovulagu we are ready to debate on any of the above. • Parandur Greenfield Airport — planned investment: ₹20,000–32,700 crore, with 2 runways, cargo hub, AeroCity, and capacity for 10 crore passengers annually. • Chennai Metro extension to Parandur — ₹15,906 crore for a 53-km corridor with 20 stations connecting Poonamallee, Sriperumbudur, Sunguvarchatram, and the airport. • Initial metro preparatory works already sanctioned — ₹2,126 crore allocated for land acquisition and preliminary civil works. • Chennai–Bengaluru Expressway connectivity and new greenfield corridors planned around the airport region to create a western logistics and industrial belt. • AeroCity, logistics parks, hotels, commercial zones, and industrial expansion around Sriperumbudur–Parandur expected to attract thousands of crores in private investment and jobs. If Parandur Airport is dropped, Tamil Nadu risks losing ₹50,000+ crore worth of planned infrastructure — including the airport, ₹15,906 crore metro link, expressway connectivity, AeroCity, logistics hubs, and massive job creation that could transform western Chennai into India’s next economic corridor. @CMOTamilnadu @TVKVijayHQ @reclaimchennai @UpdatesChennai @HariraamTrajan @Super_Chennai_ @NammaChennai_ @BussyAnand

I inspected SIPCOT Industrial Park, Manapparai. The visit was not ceremonial. It was diagnostic. The previous government measured success in MoUs. From here on it will be measured in factories that run, and livelihoods that follow. 1,097 acres. Most of it, untouched soil. Plots allotted years ago, not a foundation laid. Water designed for 7 MLD, delivering a fraction. Five kilometres of road for a thousand-acre park. The gap between announcement and execution, visible at every turn. Trichy has the talent. Trichy has the institutions. Trichy has the officers. What it lacked, for five years, was a government with the will to convert these advantages into outcomes. I have just begun with Trichy. Every park will be walked. Every cluster will be audited. Every allotment will be followed through. Tamil Nadu did not vote for ceremonies. It voted for shifts that begin now. The age of gimmicks is over. The age of industry begins. #TamilNadu #SIPCOT #IndustrialRevivalMission
