When you realize and understand "you are the product" that the media and influencers are selling, you will start the process to open your mind. Unfortunately, most will never believe they are the product.

@kurri_jari So you have no idea if any of them have done all of those things, yet you want to criticize them for exercising their 1st admendment right. The "1st admendment" was probably pretty important to be the 1st one, don't you think?

Regarding the No Kings thing. Like or dislike Trump all you want. But you're wasting a fine Saturday morn/afternoon if you gather with fellow like minded people with silly signs. Just drove by a bunch of boomers with signs in an affluent suburb of Portland. Shaking their signs and hooting and hollering as I drove by. I gave them a Thumbs Down. Not because of their political opinions, but because they're wasting energy. Volunteer to walk a dog. Call a friend you haven't chatted to in ages. Scrub some graffiti. Be productive on a level that creates a real result. Gonna grab a morning beer and think on this a bit more. Thank you.

For all the MAGA Republicans who continue to raid my threads, Accusing me of being unpatriotic, communist or whatever else bullshit rhetoric you hear of Fox News or from Trump. I served 2 combat tours in a combat zone, Combat Wounded. In a war started by a Republican President over a lie over weapons of mass destruction. (Sound familiar?) I’ve been married to the same woman for 29 years. I’ve raised and fully funded the educations of 2 adult daughters. Still raising a teen son. I have my own business, pending on the project, I employ up to 300 skilled tradesmen / women at a time. A lot of them Republicans. I’ve never taken a dime from the Federal Government for any reason. Lastly, I support the 2nd Amendment. If I was a Republican…. You critics would be kissing my ass.

Robert Mueller did more to destroy public confidence in the rule of law and the concept of equal justice under the law than any other unelected American in our long history. He was America's Roland Freisler. His legacy is one of corruption, wanton destruction, and abject abuse of the levers of judicial power. I do not celebrate his demise. But I do celebrate history properly holding him to account for his crimes and misdeeds.

PUBLIC SERVICE MESSAGE: Being a decorated combat veteran does not excuse anyone from being held to account for vile behavior he or she engaged in after leaving the service. As a veteran, I can assure non-veterans of the fact that someone earning a Purple Heart long ago should not make you afraid to criticize such person's horrifically bad and immoral behavior in the more recent past.

@CynicalPublius So, in the event that boots on the ground are needed to complete this mission in Iran, I assume you and all of the other boot licking repliers will be first to put on said boots and perform your mission once again for the oil corporations, right?

RE: Iran and One Iraq Veteran’s Painful Memories I think now is a good time to resurrect some conversations I had when I came back from Iraq. I’m not too proud of these. I probably needed counseling. But after redeploying from my Iraq tour I was almost immediately immersed in service in the DC area, first as a War College student and then as a staff director in the Pentagon. Every day I would run the National Mall for PT, only to routinely encounter thrice-weekly INTERNATIONAL A.N.S.W.E.R. anti-war protests on the Mall, with giant Bush/Cheney papier-mâché puppet heads swinging around on nooses, and with CODE PINK at the same time outside Walter Reed Army Medical Center 24/7, jeering wounded soldiers and their families as they arrived for admittance. (Yes, that actually happened.) Many times I had someone say to me “Thank you for your service.” Usually I grunted a thank you. But every so often I would have someone say that to me who I could tell was hanging with the papier-mâché puppet masters, and the dialogue would go something like this: PINK HAIRED DEMOCRAT: “Thank you for your service.” ME: “Did you support my mission when I was downrange? PINK HAIRED HARPY: “Excuse me? What do you mean?” ME: “My mission. To make sure we killed as many al Qaeda terrorists as possible. To secure Fallujah. To secure Habbaniyah. To secure Ramadi. To kill as many of those bombmakers as possible. The mission I was a part of. The mission you and the rest of the USA sent me to do. DID YOU SUPPORT MY MISSION?” PINK HAIRED DEMOCRAT HARPY: “No, I did not support a mission of “Blood for Oil.” No way would I follow Bushitler, and he was behind Abu Gharaib. But I did support you and the troops, and I thank you for your service.” ME: ***ANGRILY*** “Your thank you rings hollow, and I reject it. If you don’t support my mission, you don’t support me. And right now, in this protest you are a part of, you are doing our enemies’ bidding. Al Qaeda in Iraq and the Iraqi Shia Militias know they cannot defeat us in any pitched battles of arms. So they don’t target ME, they target YOU. They figure—just like the Viet Cong did a while back—that if they kill enough Americans in cowardly ways, that American civilians like you will turn against their own country and elect the guys who will surrender. Not only do you not support me, instead you support America’s enemies and are doing their bidding, and you support the guys who were trying to get me killed in Iraq. So get lost Pinky. Take your fake thanks with you and get the hell out of my sight, you traitor.” PINKY: “REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE……” followed by weird cat mewling sounds. Look, I already said, I’n not proud of these conversations. But I had just come home from OIF1.5 and I was SHOCKED that my countrymen and women were spending their days in our nation's capital protesting the men and women who volunteered to fight on their behalf. It was just too much for me to see so many protests after having just came home. Like a lot of vets, I needed some good counseling to get over that. And I did. But as I read what Democrats and so-called “Libertarians” are saying on X about our essential attack on Iran in retaliation for the war they declared on us in 1979, which they have perpetuated every since, killing thousands of my comrades in arms, my blood boils and it’s starting to feel like 2005 again. As much as I don’t want to, I may look askance again the next time someone with a nose ring “thanks me for my service.” Out.

👍 " I forgave myself for being human long, long ago" "Know the truth about yourself, and do not be afraid to use it." It has been my experience, that the dumbest members of a group of humans tend to be the most vocal. As evidence, I submit to the court of public opinion, "protestors". Those type of people are the epitome of the "useful idiot".

THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN A REPUBLICAN AND A DEMOCRAT. Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton were walking down the street when they came to a homeless person. Donald Trump gave the homeless person business card and told him to come to his office for a job. He then took $20 out of his pocket and gave it to the homeless person. Hillary saw this, so when they came to another homeless person, she walked over to the homeless person and gave him directions to the welfare office. She then reached into Donald's pocket and got out $20. She kept $15 for administrative fees and gave the homeless person $5. Now do you understand the difference?

Under the Constitution, the separation of powers is clear: Congress has the power to declare war. The President, as Commander in Chief, has the power to command the military in a war that Congress has authorized. With respect to the war in Iran, authorization has neither been sought by the President nor granted by Congress. The President cannot constitutionally wage war without congressional authorization unless the nation has been attacked, is under attack, or faces an imminent attack. None of those conditions is present here. For too long, we have operated under a theory of presidential war powers so open-ended that it lacks anything resembling a limiting principle. The issue before us is not Democrat versus Republican, nor progressive versus conservative. It is Congress versus the President. It is Article I versus Article II. The Founders did not declare independence 250 years ago to replace one king with another. Nor did the Framers intend for the Commander in Chief to wield the unilateral war-making authority of an 18th-century English monarch. The notion that a President can plunge the United States into a regional war in one of the most volatile places on earth—without even briefing Congress, much less securing its authorization—is irreconcilable with the text, structure, and history of the Constitution. Instead of playing second fiddle to an imperial presidency, Congress must reclaim its rightful place as the first branch of government—exactly as the Founders intended. We are Article I for a reason. It is time we start acting like it.

"If you disagree with what the government is doing, stay silent until they finish doing it." That's just about the most un-American sentiment you could possibly express. It's also the same bullshit emotional blackmail that's been used to silence the critics of every terrible policy in my lifetime, from covid to Iraq and beyond. I'm not falling for it.
Bias Breaker@Menachem675551

No one is asking you to change your mind or become pro-this war, but can you shut up for a couple of days? Your vocal critic opinions aren’t benefiting us right now in any way, and you’re only undermining this operation. Once it’s ongoing, your criticism isn’t changing anything anymore. If you want to do what’s clearly best for our country, stay silent on the matter until this is over, and then state all your vocal criticisms.

I can't take the gaslighting, guys. I really can't. Conservatives are now running around saying "Iran has been waging war on us for 47 years." Okay then why didn't any of you call for an attack on Iran at any point until now? Why didn't you make a case for Trump "ending the war, not starting it" until precisely the moment when Trump did it? You and I both know that you are latching onto a talking point you never used until 45 seconds ago. You and I both know that almost every conservative influencer in the business was opposed to war with Iran until just now. And now you're trying to use justifications that stretch back decades. It doesn't make any sense. If you changed your mind, fine. Say so. Explain why. You're allowed to change your mind. I've changed my mind about things. But don't try to rewrite history. Be honest about it. There's too much at stake to play these games.

Genuinely horrified for the rare, actual transsexual girls having to grow up through this political witch hunt. We failed you. I thought Mississippi in the 2000s was a hard place to transition. I would pick it all day every day over this political horror. I’m 20 years past the trauma and I am overwhelmed by the amount of hate I see for us every day, the majority of which is cheap engagement by the right wing and faux medical experts who clearly want to eliminate us. I can only imagine how it makes someone on the start of their journey feel. Despondent. Hopeless. Angry. Something I feel a lot of sadness for is the fact that I had to become so armored to survive. It often makes me sharper than I would like, and I know it’s just damage. It breaks my heart that another generation of girls like me will suffer the same fate. 💔

An open letter to @SpeakerJohnson and @LeaderJohnThune Today, the lives of 2 National Guardsmen, their families and loved ones, their fellow soldiers, and society have irrevocably changed. In our nation’s capital, your office, an Afghan National, who entered the US under Biden’s Operation Allies Welcome during the US withdrawl from Afghanistan, shot two of our nation’s heroes; further proof Biden screwed the pooch taking these savages and leaving our equipment. This week, the democrats have continued to incite violence with their incessant attacks on the President, administration, and an authorized law enforcement operations. As Speaker and Leader, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBLY to censure, expel and remove from committees those who have violated the code of ethics, their oath to the Constitution and promises to constituents. This is not new incitement from the democrats. Do you recall @SenSchumer and his threats against sitting SCOTUS Justices? Thank God Justice Kavanaugh’s would be assassin was apprehended. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to codify the Executive Orders, pass a balanced budget, confirm nominees, ensure election integrity by passing the SAVE Act, and impeach judges that rule based upon their political biases rather than the written laws of the land. Before the next innocent child, woman, SCOTUS Justice, law enforcement officer is victimized, we are imploring you to uphold your oath to the Constitution and complete the tasks you’ve been entrusted with. We shouldn’t have to live this way. Unfortunately, too many can no longer speak for themselves. They’ve had their lives taken due to your inaction.
