@MikeFlynn94122 @micsolana You're talking about software, sir

This is correct. Twitter's long-term value is the perception, and, ultimately, the reality, that this is the front page of the news writ large. It should be the place where writers, editors, producers, bookers, policymakers, and artists *have to be* to remain in the discourse.
If it doesn't deliver on this at a high level, it will become another irrelevant Boomer slop-feeding machine like Facebook. Generates cash, yes, but doesn't shape elite thought, which is Twitter's most valuable function, and, presumably, why Elon bought it.

"Portal to the rest of the Internet" is key. For years, this site was the front page of a morning paper whose articles were spread all over the web. That isn't *gone*, but management now tries to suppress it & replace it with..."Gunther Eagleman"? "Wall Street Apes"? Come on.

@JJCarafano Everyone notices the incredible efficiency of the US Air Force.
English

@Suzierizzo1 @AZ_camper He should get printed tickets after 50 years, hand delivered by someone with a horse and buggy, and don't forget to remind what year it is.
English

@AZ_camper Why does it matter he should get printed tickets after 50 years!

@SCShipyards In Russia with Love, their interaction is strictly professional.
While the famous "Q-Bond rapport" (humorous banter) became more integral from Goldfinger onwards, this scene in From Russia with Love established the functional briefing structure for future films.

@zach_m_yyc @ezralevant Despite @ezralevant being Canadian, what he wrote was right. Your Canadian slander was why I chose to (reprove is from old french so you aught to know it) reprove you.
Your views have no value, while your behavior being called out in public can be a public service.
English

@We37Gk @ezralevant "your view no longer have any value to Americans" yet here you are commenting on 2 Canadians' (me & Ezra) posts at 3 AM.
You're living in a hippie hellscape and you wish you lived in a Western state like Alberta.

Gen. Patton on profanity:
“When I want my men to remember something important, to really make it stick, I give it to them double dirty.
It may not sound nice to some bunch of little old ladies at an afternoon tea party, but it helps my soldiers to remember.
You can’t run an army without profanity; and it has to be eloquent profanity.
An army without profanity couldn’t fight its way out of a piss-soaked paper bag.”

@zach_m_yyc @ezralevant You are still Canadian, and Canada is no longer a friend to America; your views no longer have any value to Americans.
The democrat-run socialist hellscape of Washington is a better place to live than your entire nation.
English

@We37Gk @ezralevant I'm a proud Albertan, a much better, freer, and more right wing state than your the Democrat party-run socialist hellscape of Washington. My condolences to you for your terrible government.
English

@zach_m_yyc @ezralevant I wish I could say you're better than this, @zach_m_yyc ; but you're Canadian, and this is as good as you will ever get.
English

@ezralevant Ezra, you're better than this. Patton was a repulsive, disgusting antisemite, a Russophobic racist, a self-aggrandizing commander viewed with contempt by intelligent, cultured son of clergyman like Montgomery.
English

@Axenhammer1 @ChampionsOTIce2 No, Canada is America's prison bitch; Canada is not America's friend.

@ChampionsOTIce2 Japan is america's prison bitch not their friend

Japan is the guy who got drunk at the bar one night, jumped your ass, and gave you a black eye before you got back up and handed him such a Biblical ass-whooping that it ended with you tossing him through the bar's window.
But instead of killing him as you hauled him up to deliver the finishing blow, you both started laughing about "Well at least you're not a fucking Communist."
You then dusted each other off, limped back inside the bar, and started chatting about your hobbies over shots of Sake and Jack Daniels. Now, decades later, you consider him to be a better brother to you than your actual blood relatives.

Even if God is really really ugly, He's still the most beautiful soul alive.

TRUTH NUKE: Marc Short: “In my Bible, King David prays for his men. He prays for God to deliver victory. Joshua prayed for his men in battle. He prayed for deliver victory. Moses paid for prayed for his men, prayed to deliver victory. So, it's hard for me to find fault for Pete for praying for his soldiers to deliver victory.”
Well said!

@neoavatara @bonchieredstate "Then you can't expect them to be ready for a war".
How in the world are these countries going to defend themselves if attacked? They are unprepared.
English

1. Then you can't expect them to be ready for a war. There is a lot of logistics involved (Trump himself took months to get assets in place!). Why wouldn't other countries need as long as Trump did?
2. Involving them the day of the attack was far too late. By Trump's own standards! Unless you think the US could have started the war months ago, without assets in place.
3. The same point is still correct.
4. The only time NATO has had to react is...after 9/11. If there is a one sidedness here, it is in FAVOR of the United States.
5. Trump is treating the Europeans as vassals, not equals. And NATO is, by its own charter, supposed to be a group of equals. Its Trump that fundamentally doesn't understand what NATO ever stood for, that is quite clear from his behavior.
6. You never answered the question about Poland.
English

I refuse to believe you guys don't see the problem here.
It's one thing for the Europeans not to provide direct support for the operation. It's another for France to deny the use of its airspace for cargo deliveries or for the UK to muddle over domestic base usage.
There is no point in being in an alliance that can't provide such basic guarantees of cooperation.
