@rick_viscomi @patmeenan The plan for using heuristics are for 'similar' sites that are not using RUM to measure the impact of hinting strategies. The other interesting thing to consider is when to vary loading strategies for different network conditions and device capabilities.

The @RealWebPageTest has been _cranking_ on this for awhile and it's finally time to share! I could not be more excited to unveil our new Opportunities & Experiments—a way to let you test performance optimizations without touching a single line of code. blog.webpagetest.org/posts/introduc…

<🧵> I realise scores aren't everything, but I was curious why my blogs WPT scores had dropped for "First Byte Time" and "Cache static content" since upgrading to the Cloudflare Pro plan. #webperf

@kristinlow Yeah for sure, I feel many image hosting services are offering expensive custom domains for images. Cloudflare also just release their image hosting, but no mention about custom urls ☹️

Managed to set up AWS S3 image hosting with custom subdomain urls! It was a messy process (like anything AWS is...) but now it's done!! Also wanted all my image urls to be under the root domain. It was easy to make url rewrites with NextJS (in next.config.js): #buildinpublic

#WebPerf is so much fun, there are always optimisations to be made! I subset my one common font (saving 12kB), then noticed that the font preload was stealing bandwidth from CSS. I added the CSS as a preload before the font preload... 😱 1,000ms / 25% improvement on slow 3G!

@levelsio @Cloudflare @eastdakota The advice is to execute third party code after the page has loaded which is precisely how Rocket Loader works. There is a plan to load the script first party which will save an extra connection and also remove this warning.

@cloudflare @eastdakota Google doesn't like the Rocket Loader, is there any way to make this better? Or is it just a proxy for my own slow JS?

Was wondering how to do A/B testing without degrading page load speed for Cloudflare edge cached sites. How are people doing it these days, and what service do you use? CF workers + some service? If so, anyone with *positive experiences* of a particular service/setup?

Planning on fixing your CLS before it hits the Google search algorithm in May? Do yourself a favor and grab a Cloudflare Worker for rapid prototyping against your live site. Add WebPageTest and you've got a fast way to experiment with fixes before touching prod. #webperf #seo

@dot_js @patmeenan I’ll ping you tomorrow! Don’t want to bother you at the weekend (he says on a Sunday night). Quick call about it in the week perhaps? It’d be nice to catch up if nothing else.

@CloudflareDev Heya! Is there a way (e.g. via a ?urlParam or request header) to circumvent Rocket Loader from the browser? I just want to try something out real quick and don’t want to disable it sitewide for my client’s site. Thanks!

@patmeenan @dot_js And this 😬

@CloudflareDev Heya! I have two clients using your Bot Management tool which seems to be injecting this api.js at the edge. The only problem is… it’s super-duper hyper-mega expensive at runtime. Is there anything we could do (either me and my clients or Cloudflare and me)?

@patmeenan @csswizardry Hi. There is no way via request params/headers. You can use page rules to disable for a specific page/path. Will take a look into the Safari issue.

@AndyDavies @dot_js @patmeenan any chance if you know if there _is_ a super easy, non-secondary service requiring kind of way to log errors (even just a daily rotating/short term) from workers and I just can't find it?
