I don’t see anything wrong in offering local AI stuff on Linux

Ubuntu has set a precedence after focusing on AI integration. Here's what will happen in the next one year. Mainstream distros like Fedora, openSUSE and even some Arch based distros will start offering local AI capabilities. And then there were a few distros with strict "no AI" policy. The desktop Linux community will be fragmented once again. A few people will like AI integration as it keeps the system modern and and then there will be people who will be dead against AI and so they will be choosing a no-AI distro. Over time AI features will be prevalent and will be normal but that will take some more time, maybe 3-4 years or more. Let's see how things progress but this is my prediction.

Ai can automate coding and stuff but don't use it to automate learning

@sargampoudel What if ai directly performs crud operations on db it only needs a connector with guardrails and proper markdown rules

UIs might be replaced with AI but API can never be replaced. AI is great at a lot of things except being deterministic.
API is the last thing we don't want to be determinitic

@findmyplushies maybe there's an actual non-racism-based explanation for it, like Kali just being popular over there for some reason. I have no idea what kali is or does though so I've got no idea personally.

@skribbledonk @findmyplushies Just use distrobox or plain old docker no need to install unnecessary things on daily driver.
Make container install packages use and delete simple.

I can think of 3 thing people think hacker are some mr robot like thing and they try to copy that.
Most are engineers and most of them have heard about kali atleast once in there college and gave it a try.
Kali is actually a name of one of our goddess so I think most download it thinking it's a indian thing.

@SoonerFanInMO1 @CalemAnnk @iriscal @sghoul Yes but even after installing other distro they should know it's completely different os with completely different set of tools and you have to get used to it.
I am at the point I can't use windows for more than 3 to 4 days and that too if it's extremely necessary.

@dovvokun @CalemAnnk @iriscal @sghoul Cachy is good for if you kinda already have your foot in the door of linux. Otherwise, you should absolutely stick with something like Mint or Zorin

Cachey is good but not a beginner distro.

Ya but like what softwares do you actually need to build in linux , i have been using linux for very long time and I never found a need to build from sources flatpak , snap , package manager got it mostly covered.
The thing I needed to build were mostly obscure things for testing but for normal use, gaming , developer I never needed to build it from source.

Issue with allowing normies to use Linux is they don't have the basic tech literacy to do anything like building from source, Windows prebuilt binaries literally exist so this group doesn't touch a shell with a ten foot pole.

@CalemAnnk @SoonerFanInMO1 @iriscal @sghoul Linux is different os it's not like you can run windows app on mobile you need to have a learning mindset.

@SoonerFanInMO1 @iriscal @sghoul My biggest gotcha is, that for every single time I want to install something new, I had to research how to do it. Instead of downloading an executable, I not only had to find an alternative for Linux and read up on it's features. That's when I gave up, not on the gaming side.
