Preliminary thoughts going into day 2: - New heroes are mostly fun & unique, not 'it's x hero with y ability' - Lots of little changes that give a feeling of freshness - Most perks seem insignificant but the concept is good - The game still feels like OW (that's good & bad)

I haven’t played Overwatch in half a decade, that changed today! Here are my biggest takeaways from jumping back in for the first time: 1. The music and SFX crit me straight in the chest with nostalgia. 2. I wasn’t even five minutes into a match before someone told me I'm require to hate Sombra to play. 3. 5 years later and I still hate getting one-shot by Widowmaker. 4. Vendetta felt incredible instantly my favorite. So many new heroes to try (former Top 500 Genji/Pharah) 5. Perks are fire. some feel WAY better than others 6. Healing feels SO different compared to Rivals lol. I got punished for a while 7. I checked my old time played stats.. nearly 1,400 hours in season 1 alone. WHERE DID I HAVE THE TIME. 8. Still miss Jeff Kaplan. 🫡 Overall a good time, competition is extremely healthy for any genre! You're crazy if you think otherwise.

@Coach_Spilo Ngl in 6v6 it’s heat, just ban tracer (no balance will ever be perfect that’s why bans are sooooo nice omg) Map voting is awesome I have no issue with tanks outside of hog n ball torture, every match up seems fair and beatable Best state the games ever been in (6v6 for me)

Really don't know what to think of S17's patch. Map voting is interesting, the new map seems great, and I'm gonna assume the lack of perk adjustments are because they're cooking up something next season. The justification for the Reaper/Tracer buff is freaking weird, though. Listen, I'm THE Tracer advocate- she may be the single most healthy hero to be meta due to how punishable she is in 90% of ranks even when she is strong, but the explanation of "map voting/hero bans will help take care of this" feels not only optimistic but a little ignorant. I'll be focusing on Tracer, but a lot of what I'm going to say applies to a lesser extent with reaper: 1. Tracer is not particularly map dependent. This is based off my opinion of higher level play, not low/mid ranked play, and I'm ignorant of her winrates on other maps. Sadly that information isn't publicly available, but I'd be surprised if her winrate, even on high ground maps, was much worse than flashpoint. 2. Relying on 90% of the playerbase to intelligently ban based off map is insane. This is the same playerbase that will ban Zarya on Gibraltar in freaking Diamond, ban Sombra in 90% of games, and continue to ban "counters" that were nerfed last YEAR (I'm looking at Winston mains still obsessively banning DVA... in Diamond). Players don't strategically ban effectively until Grandmaster. People ban perceived counters, and hated/overtuned heroes, and community culture ALWAYS snowballs this. Sombra should have about 60% banrate, but because everyone just... goes along for the ride to be a good teammate, banrates accelerate almost exponentially. Expect Tracer banrates to skyrocket the second a couple support mains get tired of her. I've got a couple of other thoughts, too. If a map mode has a significantly higher winrate for Tracer, a sledgehammer buff is probably just going to exacerbate how bad it feels when a Flashpoint map gets voted in. Heck, should ranked players even concern themselves with strategic map voting? This is partially mitigated by the probability format of the vote, but still. Overall a pretty nothingburger of a patch, but curious to see what happens in the next few weeks. Oh and buffing Mauga/Moira sustain sucks.
