For anyone with a meaningful brokerage balance, this can still be the best place to borrow money: Low rates, favorable tax treatment of interest, can spend the borrowed money on whatever you want (including other investments) As long as you have some help with execution

A financial engineering trick used by wealthy people: If you have a large balance in your brokerage account, you can borrow money at US treasury rates (~4%) This is cheaper than a mortgage, and you can deduct the interest you pay as a capital loss! Here's how it works:

I’m hearing from a lot of MAGA who have had enough. It takes courage to admit you were wrong + change course. Know that most of us in the Trump resistance will not gloat or say we told you so. We don’t have time. We just want to get on with repairing our nation. Join us.

@t_blom @pitdesi Dog patch has character. Would love to see more density but please don’t throw up a bunch of soulless towers.

@pitdesi I agree, we just need to do the same to the dogpatch now. Too many derelict SF Port buildings.

Mission Bay is an under-discussed success story. It's soulless/not my vibe, but the whole area is crushing it with the best restaurants opening and most new offices: OpenAI, Uber, Dropbox, Visa, and others like Gusto/Astranis/YC closeby. The place was an industrial wasteland not long ago, and now it’s one some of the best real estate in SF... It’s got waterfront views, is the sunniest part of the city, and feels like a completely different place - it's clean, modern, and functional though all part of SF.

Coinbase is coming back to San Francisco, opening a 150,000 square foot office in Mission Rock after leaving the City four years ago. San Francisco is the place to build and grow your company. Welcome back, @Coinbasesfstandard.com/2025/05/28/coi…

@cpaik Spot on. And fits the pattern of unsuccessful Airbnb initiatives - Airbnb plus, lux. So much creativity from millions of hosts waiting to be unlocked. That has always been Airbnb at its best

@austincampbell bummer that the vision of digital ownership has been such a bust and we continue to live as serfs on Apple / meta / Google estate

More dominoes falling Only a few states remain that are still blocking staking. They are harming consumers if you look at the amount of money each state's citizens have lost!
Paul Grewal@iampaulgrewal

Today the State of Vermont dismissed its action against @Coinbase regarding staking services. As we have always said: staking services are not securities. We applaud Vermont for embracing progress and providing clarity for its citizens who own digital assets. 1/3

@austincampbell @TheStalwart @tracyalloway Stablecoins should create lots of new dollar demand (why should Turks / Brazilians / Argentines hold local currency?); will create even more pressure on US production? Are tariffs a necessary for a world where USD is a worldwide savings instrument, not just for int'l trade?

@austincampbell @TheStalwart @tracyalloway Loved this episode, especially in combo with their recent Eurodollar series. How will stablecoins - and fact that they provide everyone in the world with access to dollars - interact with (1) strength of dollar vs. other currencies and (2) US manufacturing and exports?

0/ I have many notes on this episode, but let me start with this one: I love @TheStalwart and @tracyalloway because they represent one of the best parts of American discourse, which is thoughtful (and funny) skepticism paired with a willingness to be open-minded.

NEW ODD LOTS What the crypto industry actually wants to see from President Trump @tracyalloway and I talked with @austincampbell about the types of regulatory and banking changes the industry is hoping to see under the new administration. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/thi…

New pod: CRYPTO'S COMEBACK TOUR open.spotify.com/episode/7vWL4w… I talked to—and learned an absolute metric ton from—@austincampbell about: - what Marc Andreessen got right in his claims about Biden's illegitimate "war" on crypto - the policy origins of "debanking "under Obama (and why some debanking is, actually, good) - Bitcoin $100k and what its biggest backers still get wrong about the future of finance - the gap between many crypto-startup promises and actual use cases - how stablecoins work—and why they're the technology's most important product right now - what crypto will do for us in 5 years
