damn damn damn damn it I can't believe that hospitals -that have vastly more resources- are getting liquidity help from CMS but medical practices are left out I can't believe it we will be fighting this "Physician groups press HHS for more relief following Change cyberattack"

Doctors have been put in a very difficult postion; we have absolute accountability, combined with minimal authority.

🚨Coupled w/inflation & ongoing sequestration cuts, physician practices are experiencing a staggering 10% #Medicare payment cut! While #Congress is now halving the 3.4% cut, it is totally inadequate. Physicians are the only Medicare providers w/out an inflationary-based payment update, demonstrating the critical need for long-term payment reform that reflects the economic realities faced by physicians who are the foundation of patient care in our health care system.

@Aetna denied a total hip. Peer to peer told me to get advanced imaging to get surgery approved. So I ordered MRI and they just denied the MRI. Honestly - this is like a @DGlaucomflecken skit.

important topic. caring for people with whom you profoundly disagree ideologically, politically or otherwise has _always_ been a core tenet of medical ethics. have had several extreme examples in practice over the years when had to care for those whose views/behavior found abhorrent (white supremacists with swastika tattoos, convicted pedophiles, etc.) -- yet, you are a physician, you took an oath to care for people regardless of what you believe or what they've done. judgment is for G-d and small children, not your doctor.

Spoke to the “peer” @AnthemBCBS provided today, who was a pharmacist with no speciality training in oncology. She refused to approved my request to start my patient at a lower dose. They said there is no oncologist I can talk to, which seems illegal. #reformpriorauth

Last night, I led a bipartisan coalition in opposing the 3.37% cut to the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule. 83+ million people in the U.S. currently live in areas without sufficient access to a Primary Care Physician. Congress must stand up for America's patients and doctors!

Physicians, who see Medicare patients, struggle to keep their doors open because of debilitating reimbursement cuts each year. Congress must step up and protect America’s doctors and patients. My bill, the Preserving Seniors’ Access to Physicians Act, will get the job done.

The research is bringing value to the meeting, plus would be further incentive to submit high quality abstracts!!

Spoke with the AUA (which was helpful) - found out that the Midatlantic AUA is one of 4 sections to have dues, the other sections don't. So what are we paying for locally that other chapters aren't? Where's that extra money going in our local region?

Btw, many of your colleagues are VOLUNTEERING their time with the AUA to advocate for you. @RuchikaTalwarMD Kevin koo, Robert bass to name a few.

And physicians leading educational sessions at the AUA meeting and proctoring resident presentations should be paid for their time & expertise. Use our dues for that 😀

I love Urology and my practice. I will continue to support the mission as much as possible, but the direct value to me is difficult to see.
