@BuenoForMiami One big reason why teachers are leaving the profession like they are is a direct result of adults not spanking their children and to a lesser extent, teachers unable to strike students either like they used to.

Spanking your kids is teaching them to resolve their emotional conflicts with violence. You’re not parenting them, you’re teaching them the same traumas your parents put on you. It’s time to evolve and teach kids to deal with their emotions in a meaningful and positive way.
Luke Johansson@LMJofficially

@BuenoForMiami @FoundationDads I raised 3 kids, and they all got spankings. Somehow, they're all doing well.

Here's what I know. 1. Paxton is an unethical crook and cheater who just cut a plea deal with a pedo 2. If Paxton wins tomorrow, Talarico will beat him in November 3. Cornyn needs to win for us to have a chance to win in November If you vote for Paxton and he wins tomorrow, congratulations, you just helped turn Texas blue.

@patrickbetdavid Have you been in rush hour traffic for 1.5 hours each way in a manual in recent times? Unless you got a 600+ horsepower beast or classic muscle car it makes no sense other than nostalgic Steve McQueen mentality, which I support

My first real job was doing high pressure gym sales. You hear a lot about jobs where you're only as good as your last days sales, but this job took it to the extreme. The turnover rate was extreme with "trainers" being swapped out every couple of weeks. I put the word trainers in quotations because their sales people were called trainers because we'd give them two free 30 minute training sessions when you'd sign up. Our only qualifications were that we had to look like we worked out a lot. The pay scale was simple. Eight dollars an hour vs. unlimited commission. Eight dollars an hour isn't much, but realistically if you weren't earning over that in commission you'd only have to deal with low wages for a couple of weeks. They had a zero tolerance policy for low sales. At eight dollars an hour, I earned 100k my first year. I couldn't legally drink, but I was raking it in. Yeah, I hustled. The manager was an absolute wreck of a human. Addicted to coke and oxy, but man he was loaded. He could sell anything. I hadn't seen Glengary Glen Ross yet, but he was the gym sales version of Alec Baldwin. He'd hold motivational meetings like the Always Be Closing one in the film. The same level of disdain towards us. If we talked about our referrals not coming in or calling back, he'd burst into a tirade. "Look outside! Do you see how many fat people are walking around? Every single one of those fat asses is a sale. If you can't close them, tell me now and you can walk out the door right now and do something better suited for you." There were no rules at this point. Consumer agencies hadn't cracked down on how predatory we were. We were told to do anything to get a sale, and it didn't matter if it came down to insulting them into a two year contract. If they said they had to think about it, the rate of return was around 5% and belittling them worked around 8% of the time so it was better to go with that. I had a fat woman tell me she had to think about it and was gathering the flyer and her car keys from the sales table. I palm up open handed gestured towards her stomach and asked "Do you really think you have more time to think about this?" She signed a two year contract, with down-payment and never even showed up for a session. It sounds awful and it really was. I was 18 and it was my first job. Making that much money working part time hours was insane and hard to resist. These were the wild west days of gym memberships. Back before zero contracts or no money down. Back before gyms were considered a safe space. If we didn't perform, we were kicked out without warning. Every day was chaos. I could never work in that kind of industry again. My own personal morals would stop me. But looking back now, compared to today, I can't believe how crazy the industry was. We made so much money. We had so much fun.

The perfect egg is over easy. When I say over easy, I mean very easy. A quick flip just to solidify the whites. Maybe 8 total seconds in the pan with the burner off. The yolk should run all over the plate when pierced. I always see sad eggs online. Fried hard with everything crispy, and the yolk basically hard boiled. Why would you do something so terrible? It's like a well-done filet mignon. I'd write about my disdain for egg whites alone, but it's still early, and I don't want to ruin my day. An example of the perfect egg below:

Tell younger generations their entire lives that they need to go to college to get a good job, go into tech to make money, learn to code. Remove trade classes from high school curriculum to help facilitate this. Rug pull them by hiring only foreigners for those jobs or offshoring them completely “Hey man nobody forced you to go to college you should have gone into the trades”
sparkyt.xlm@SparkyTXLM

Should have went into a trade. Nobody forced you to take out that student loan or choose the profession you decided to choose. You did that on your own. Learn and adapt kids. Learn and adapt

This one sums it up for me. Bernie Sanders out there doing the "Democratic Socialism" bit and talking about Unions and "Healthcare" and two BLM activists went up to the podium, stole the mic from him and started screaming about "racism" and black power. Ended his campaign.

Fwiw basically nobody in the tech industry has these views about immigrants even if they are concerned about the very real problem of ethnic cliques at big companies It’s almost entirely a group of very loud internet chuds
M. Nolan Gray 🥑@mnolangray

Know-nothing tech workers think they're going to marginally increase the avalanche of wealth that rains down on them by booting out their immigrant colleagues. They're about to discover that attracting the best and brightest is the defining comparative advantage of US tech.

@avidseries It isn't talented immigrants. It's immigrants who are beholden to job performance because their visa dictates they have to stay employed. In other words, if you stop treading water, you're gone. That isn't talent, that's indentured servitude
