It is deeply concerning that sitting CPS Board President, Rev. Mitchell Ikenna Johnson, has expressed antisemitic sentiments. Again, the City Council was not given the opportunity to engage with any of the appointees before they took their official positions. The Board President should resign.

We welcome the joint statement from Chicago City Council members calling for the resignation of newly appointed @ChiPubSchools Board President Rev. Mitchell Ikenna Johnson over his past antisemitic statements.
“It is deeply troubling...that after a year of dangerous and offensive antisemitic social media posts and statements, Rev. Johnson was appointed as President of the Chicago Public School Board in the first place,” said AJC Chicago Director @SarahvanLoon.
We join their call on @ChicagosMayor Brandon Johnson to correct this mistake for the safety of Jewish students and families.
