Yesterday I had the privilege of giving detailed career guidance feedback to more than 15 Lower Sixth students at a private school. I met each student together with their parents and walked them through three critical areas: aptitude, personality, and the career interest inventory. The level of accuracy, as confirmed by parents, was humbling. When scientific assessments mirror what families have observed over the years, it reinforces one thing: career decisions should be guided by evidence. Aptitude refers to a person’s natural ability to learn, understand, and solve problems. It includes areas such as verbal reasoning, numerical reasoning, mechanical reasoning, spatial reasoning and abstract reasoning. Personality refers to relatively stable patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving that influence how a person works with others, handles pressure, leads, follows instructions, and approaches responsibility. The career interest inventory measures what types of activities, environments, and professions genuinely attract and energise a person. It identifies whether someone is drawn toward analytical work, creative work, helping professions, business activities, technical fields, and so on. When you look at aptitude, personality, and career interests together, you see the full picture. You see what the child can do well, how they are likely to operate in real working environments, and what kinds of careers they are naturally drawn toward. If these assessments are done at the Form 2 to Form 3 transition, subject choices for O Level, A Level, university degree pathways, and ultimate career options can be mapped in a structured and logical way. Yesterday I also met a student who scored close to the 100th percentile in abstract reasoning, something I have rarely seen in more than two decades of practice. Abstract reasoning measures raw intelligence. When such ability is aligned with the right personality profile and strong career interests, the pathway becomes much clearer. That is the real value of proper career guidance. @ipcconsultants

Access to documentation is a shared responsibility. Every sector has a role in ensuring Zimbabweans enjoy their legal right to identity. For birth registration and citizenship rights to be fully realised, the following stakeholders must work together: Parents and caregivers, Health facilities, Schools, Police and social services, Registrar-General’s Office, Parliament, Traditional leaders and community structures, and the Civil society. Together, we can close the documentation gap and ensure no one is left without an identity. For free legal advice, contact the LRF at 08080402(Econet users only), 08010114 (NetOne users only) or WhatsApp 0785659616 for legal self-help services. The role of parents and caregivers::::

Dear Zimbabweans Please help me thank Tendai Mbofana of Ngoda Granite, +263774140646. You will remember that a few weeks ago, a heartbreaking picture of the late great musician John Chibadura’s dilapidated grave went viral. I offered to pay for a new tombstone to restore the dignity of a man who gave us so much joy through his music. Then Tendai came forward and said to me, “Daddy Hope, you have done a lot for our country. Allow us to also play our part in our own way.” Today, Tendai sent me these pictures — the new tombstone of the late, great John Chibadura. It is beautiful. It is dignified. It is a reflection of respect for a man whose music touched the hearts of millions. What moves me deeply is that Tendai refused to take a single cent. He said he wanted to do this as his way of saying thank you to John Chibadura on behalf of all Zimbabweans. In a time when selfishness and greed dominate our society, his act of generosity and humility stands out as a light of hope. So, please Zimbabweans, help me thank this great son of our soil, Tendai Mbofana. Let us support him by giving him business. His number again is +263774140646. This is the spirit we need — the spirit of ubuntu, of standing together, of honouring those who gave us joy, and appreciating those who give back to the community. The image of John Chibadura’s neglected grave pained many of us. Today, thanks to Tendai’s kindness, dignity has been restored. Thank you, Tendai. May the Lord bless you abundantly. You have reminded us what true patriotism and gratitude look like.

Wow, the president of Dudula is as daft as a brick. I cannot imagine that someone who wants to be a politician, enter politics, and lead people in South Africa does not know what the Frontline States means or what they stood for. This is exactly why I always encourage young people to read — and to read widely, with depth — not just to chant empty slogans rooted in ignorance. For those who did not know, the Frontline States were a coalition of southern African countries that supported the liberation movements fighting against colonialism and apartheid in the region. They were a precursor to what later became SADC, and their solidarity played a crucial role in the liberation of countries such as Zimbabwe, Namibia, Mozambique, and South Africa itself. The Frontline States were Angola, Botswana, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia, and later Zimbabwe. These nations formed a regional alliance during the 1970s and 1980s to coordinate political, diplomatic, and military support for liberation movements fighting colonial and apartheid regimes in southern Africa.

Great Zimbabwe University’s Dr. James Zivanomoyo and his team have released a book titled “Zimbabwe’s Economy: Four Decades in Perspective.” The book examines the decline of Zimbabwe’s economy since independence, highlighting how infrastructure like roads, rail, and air services have worsened over time. Dr. Zivanomoyo blames corruption as the main cause and calls for strict action against all offenders, regardless of rank. @mhtestd @InfoMinZW @ZimReader @readingzw @ARTUZ_teachers @ProgressiveOf @bdpublishers @Innov8Bookshop @Book_Fantastics @bookforest_zw @zimta01 @nustzim @nustsrc @UZimbabwe @UzSec @MidlandsState @GreatZimUni @daddyhope @zanupf_patriots @edmnangagwa @nelsonchamisa @InfoMinZW @ZACConline @PoliceZimbabwe @oczmk @ChinamasaPA @CdeMutsvangwa @dhonzamusoro007 @Jamwanda2 @JobSikhala1 @ChangeRadioZW @ProfJNMoyo @gift_mugano @advocatemahere @zanupf_patriots @BlessedGeza @Cde_Ostallos

Congratulations to Donald Mhlanga and his brilliant team from Bindura University of Science Education for coming second at the 2025 Enactus World Cup, triumphing over hundreds of teams from across the globe. The Enactus World Cup is an annual international competition where university students showcase entrepreneurial projects designed to tackle real social, economic, and environmental challenges in their communities. Each team first competes nationally, and the winners go on to represent their countries on the global stage, presenting their innovations before panels of business leaders, academics, and experts. Zimbabwe came second globally thanks to Bindura University of Science and Education. Donald Mhlanga led a dynamic team of Last Baloyi, Tadiwa Takawira, Vimbai Euphasia Nyahuma, Jabulani Charity Mugonderwa, Tanyaradzwa Chanetsa, Tanaka Chimpelo, Tanaka Tempo, Billy Chitanda, and Liturgy Kufa. Their projects included a seed coating initiative and an energy access innovation where they developed shoes capable of generating electricity to charge gadgets. I personally love to see my compatriots winning awards because it once again proves that Zimbabwe has great minds. What we lack is not talent, but good political leadership to harness and support this brilliance. With the right environment, these young innovators could change not only our country but the world. The 2025 Enactus World Cup where Donald Mhlanga and his BUSE team came second was held in Astana, Kazakhstan. Makorokoto, Amhlophe, Well done! 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿

Some years ago, my cousins and I went to put tombstones on our maternal grandparents’ graves. Today, the man who did those tombstones for us, Tendai Mbofana, has offered to make a complete new tombstone for the great John Chibadura, as an appreciation for the work I gave him ten years ago, without me paying anything. He has also done the same for other greats he mentioned in the WhatsApp message below. Help me thank Tendai Mbofana of Ngoda Granites. What we should do for such kind-hearted businesses is to make sure we give them our support and business, because they are kind and community-minded. Please RETWEET so that others in need of tombstones can give him business. It only took my offer to unlock this kindness; together we can do more and even better!

If you’re a manager or even just part of a team you have probably worked with someone who just doesn’t deliver. You agree on what needs to be done and when, but what follows is a string of excuses, silence, or vague updates like “almost done.” Sometimes, they will even say they forgot. It’s frustrating, especially when the person seems smart and capable. The issue is not always a lack of knowledge or skill. In many cases, it’s low conscientiousness: a personality trait that determines how reliable, organized, and self-disciplined someone is. People low in conscientiousness often struggle to follow through, manage their time, or keep commitments. This trait gap undermines performance at both individual and company levels, costing more than most realize. Common signs include: frequently missing deadlines, being disorganized, procrastinating often, avoiding accountability, needing constant reminders, giving vague progress updates, making careless mistakes, and blaming others for setbacks. You might recognize these patterns they are not just bad habits; they reflect a deeper personality trait. Here’s the hard truth: you can’t train someone out of low conscientiousness. Personality traits like this are largely stable in adulthood[meaning they are largely hereditary and partly childhood experience]. No course, coaching, or performance plan will rewire how someone naturally operates. That’s why screening for conscientiousness at the hiring stage is critical. @ipcconsultants
