NEW: Brendan Sorsby's agent, Ron Slavin, claims Cincinnati knew about the gambling addiction and took no action: “If anybody should be questioned or catching heat, it should be Cincinnati. Because they knew for two years and never said anything or didn’t do anything about it. That’s the part of the story that gets lost.” (via @1053thefan) on3.com/news/brendan-s…

NEW: Sources who have reviewed the betting data told @PeteNakos that, dating back to 2022, Brendan Sorsby placed more than 10k wagers and at one point averaged 20 bets per day. Sorsby placed bets across multiple states, using a range of gambling apps. on3.com/news/texas-tec…

So attention will now shift to Cincinnati and how they knew he was gambling for two years but they didn’t report it and just had a sham investigation. Right @brettyormark @Big12Conference ?

Texas tech should counter the Big 12 and NCAA by suing them and Cincinnati for withholding information and make Cincinnati pay all legal fees.

@Firstand16_Pod I wasn't handled by Cincinnati the right way. Handling internally is without notifying the Big 12 is a rule violation. In August Cincy was notified by sports betting site.

First and 16 - A Big 12 Podcast
Let's close this chapter of college football... Indiana - Likely had no idea Sorsby was betting, no reason to go after the team for something an individual did. Cincinnati - No evidence that they knew Sorsby bet on his former teams or college teams at all. He was flagged one time for a single bet, and it was handled. Could they have done more research and found out more about other betting cases? Sure, but again, they handled it with the information they were given. Texas Tech - They've looked pretty bad the last few days digging their feet in on defending Sorsby for not "breaking any laws" despite breaking every ethical rule out there, but legally you did nothing wrong. No hard feelings, let's move on. Sorsby - I hope he continues to get this gambling issue figured out. Go out and get picked up by an NFL team and have a successful career.

@bradleysweigel Game was never being held in Clifton (or Oxford), both sides killed the home and home and only this last neutral game remained. Based on the last 2 paltry attended games at Paycor, this is likely a sellout and still puts more money in both schools pockets.

@fabian_football wag here, but the Rose Bowl hosted the 94 final, could just be that they weren't going to the west coast final 2x in a row as a host country

It’s becoming clear that any school other than Texas Tech couldn’t care less about the mental health of their student athletes.

Can we have a conversation about how Cincinnati needs to be punished in someway for all this? Sorsby hasn’t even played a snap for Texas Tech. They played him all of 2025 knowing he had this issue and they’re gonna face ZERO REPERCUSSIONS for all this. That’s unacceptable.
CFB Junkies@gwilkie80

I disagree. Cincinnati played Sorsby all last year knowing he had this problem (according to USA Today), and clearly wanted to stick it to TT and Sorsby for the transfer. Lost in all of this is the player who is a human being with a problem. @dannykanell , you and others who have never suffered through an addiction will never understand it so I don’t expect you to see the kid’s side of it. TT told him they’d have his back and they’re keeping their commitment even though it would be easier not to. I’ve followed this from the start and TT has done exactly what they’ve said publicly they would do. You may not agree with them, but they’ve been very transparent.

@ChadBrendel Is that what triggered law enforcement notifying the NCAA? Genuinely curious what set this all in motion.

Isn't sports gambling illegal in Texas? Wouldn't sending money to a friend in a state it was legal to place bets constitute wire fraud? If Cincinnati should have known what was going on, shouldn't Tech be held to the same standard here? Food for thought...
