Current regulations don't adequately address these concerns, so we’re calling for international regulation. This could be accomplished with strong rules around chemicals of concern in the Global Plastics Treaty, which is being negotiated next week in Geneva.

@fvbirder @GlobalBC That's right. That was the research team that discovered #6PPDquinone was a salmon toxin. Our work is trying to discover the areas which are most vulnerable to 6PPDq before looking at improving rain gardens to remove it from runoff more efficiently.

Our new project is STREAM (Salmonid Toxic Runoff Exposure & Treatment) bitly.ws/34IH5 This DFO funded project will identify hotspots of salmon exposure to the newly discovered salmon/tire toxin 6PPD-quinone. We will also design new treatments using green infrastructure.
