@WorldJSurg I agree with Prof. Hardcastle. There's no single most pressing issue. All 4 listed issues are interconnected and can not/should not be addressed in isolation. Global surgical care could be addressed in a modular manner by bringing together the key issues and addressing them.

"It's transforming the learning experience for paediatric surgical trainees in Africa." 🌍 Dr. @jseyiolajide is a consultant paediatric surgeon in Nigeria & one of the most prolific trainers on PAPSEP, generously sharing her expertise to the next generation of life-savers in Africa. 🇳🇬 The importance of access to quality education for trainee surgeons? 🏥 "It's crucial. A #surgeon in training needs quality education to prepare them for their career. This is even more important in #LMICs, where access to ongoing mentoring after graduating can be limited." PAPSEP's impact... 📚 "It's transformational. It's enhancing the way trainees process information and instruction." What motivates you to engage? "I have a lifelong desire for high quality education & well-trained surgeons. PAPSEP motivates us trainers to continuously improve the delivery of information to trainees. It's strengthening competence in global paediatric surgery." 💪

Today, we had a great opportunity to rethink malaria elimination in Nigeria. Thanks @DrTedros @WHO @MoetiTshidi, @GlobalFund @PeterASands, @gavi , @drdavidwalton, @PMIgov, @JoyPhumaphi_, Hon Minister of State @DrTunjiAlausa, Dr Ntadom NC NMEP @Fmohnigeria, and numerous Nigerian, African, and global health leaders for joining us to interrogate the facts and begin to chart a new path towards malaria elimination as part of President Tinubu’s @officialABAT Renewed Hope Agenda. We also were glad to have the Nigerian Governors Forum @NGFSecretariat and sub-national leadership in the dialogue. We identified key shifts and strategic actions to combat malaria in Nigeria, including: 1.Establishing an independent Advisory group on Malaria Elimination in Nigeria (#AMEN); 2.Developing a pragmatic, costed plan for malaria elimination making explicit the required trade offs; 3.Intensified malaria case management, including NHIA reforms, domesticated Affordable Medicines for malaria effort, expanding primary health and frontline workforce; 4.Mobilizing domestic and global funding for malaria; 5. Relentless focus on operational excellence to deploy and optimize existing tools for high coverage, including LLINs, SMC, IPT, IVM and phased introduction of safe, efficacious vaccines; 6.Enhancing community and leadership involvement in malaria elimination; 7.Strengthening data integrity and accountability; 8.Intensifying preparedness and response to climate change’s impacts on malaria; 9.Exploring bold innovations in service delivery and financing mechanisms.

The impact of e-learning in West Africa… 🌍 We were delighted to see Prof. @eaameh discuss the impact of PAPSEP at the annual WACS conference this week. 🇸🇱 📚 PAPSEP, created in association with @RCSI_GlobalSurg, is our innovative e-learning platform, making the best training available possible for paediatric surgical trainees across the world. 🙌
