Young Baby Boomer. I was a librarian at NYDN and public lib. Retired for now, but if a job comes up that fits into my life, I'm still sharp enough to do it.

Complete breakdown of society. I get into a NYC cab. Newly arrived gentleman with no cabbie license in the license slot asks me if I want to pay ‘the flat rate’ or ‘the hourly rate’. Neither of these of course exist in NYC, it is a metered rate. I express firmly that I am a New Yorker and know about metered rates and to please turn on the meter. But I have no reason to believe this is a licensed driver in his actual own cab. Scary feeling. @nyctaxi

Public school is a place for tens of millions of students to: -be safe -be surrounded -be educated -be challenged -be better Don’t demonize public schools for preparing the workforce that will take care of you one day.

As of today, Florida SNAP recipients can’t buy soda or candy because God forbid we allow a single mom and her kids a few moments of happiness at the end of the day. 😡

@lawyer4SMBs My father mowed his own lawn until he was too weak to start the mower. He is in a wheelchair now, and I know he would prefer to be out mowing the lawn.

I remember a while back I said that if you make over $200k a a year and still mow your own lawn, you're doing it wrong. Now that the average quote I'm getting for my lawn is $400 a month, I think I'm changing my mind on that statement. What are folks running for lawnmowing equipment on a 1 acre mow these days?

We had an incredible opportunity to make remote work the global standard, and we blew it. Seriously: What happened? Why did so many companies go back to the office?

Baby boomers aren't selling their homes & why would they? They paid $100,000 for a home 25+ years ago, owe $0 & have $500k+ of equity. "Downsizing" means they'd need to buy something for $450k + take on a 6.5% loan. Many won't move & this will keep inventory low.

To address the housing crisis, we need to build more housing — and we can’t let financing delays or duplicative reviews stand in the way. @NYCComptroller and I both know New Yorkers can’t afford to wait.
Office of New York City Comptroller Mark Levine@NYCComptroller

Thanks to @Fox5ny and Good Day NY for having us to discuss our NYC Housing Investment Initiative --a $4B commitment to finance workforce, mixed-use, and affordable housing across all five boroughs. Financing delays can stall projects for years --or stop them altogether. This is a win-win: tackling the affordability crisis while delivering strong returns for our pension funds. Looking forward to working with our trustees for approval of strategic investments in the coming weeks and months to move this forward.
