@ekaneomics
I profess to understand economics and explain lessons distilled from that field. I also like movies.

I feel like we've reached the end of WW2 movies. All of the interesting stories have been told. Now we get movies about black women sorting mail in England and the meteorologist that did the weather forecast for D-Day.

Gaston is a returning war hero with hints of PTSD from it. He makes clumsy, misguided attempts to woo Belle rather than assuming she’ll be his just because he asks. Belle is aloof and snotty to him from the start. He attempts to become better for her and be interested in her interests until he finally snaps from Maurice treating him like dirt. He’s definitely still self-centered and clueless but makes an honest attempt at a relationship, at least as much as he is capable of (which leaves a lot to be desired, sure). He is much more sympathetic than animated Gaston, while movie Belle is much less sympathetic than her animated counterpart. Sympathetic doesn’t mean blameless or heroic, though.

@aruvinchan Good breakdown. But what’s your budget if you’re forced to these public dates? If I’m forced to take a chick out to get to know her, my budget is happy hour drinks at most and MAYBE an appetizer and no more than $40-$50.

Costco CEO Ron Vachris did the “CEO eats his own product” challenge by destroying a hot dog (and confirms the Costco hot dog combo is staying at $1.50 forever). Legend.

Ex-President Nixon and future President Trump, tonight 1979, Houston:

An Au Pair is a broke usually hot 20 something year old girl with an accent who moves across the world to move into your house and act as an unpaid servant for access to a temporary visa. The male equivalent would be like moving Tom Cruise in his prime into your garage to work on cars and flex his muscles while cleaning the pool
