Jamal Crawford dropped 50+ points in a game four different times. That is more 50+ point games than: David Robinson (3) Shaquille O'Neal (3) Dwayne Wade (3) Oscar Robertson (2) Hakeem Olajuwon (2) Dirk Nowitzki (2) Alex English (2) Tim Duncan (1) Reggie Miller (1)

Happy 46th Birthday, Jamal Crawford: 3X Sixth Man of the Year 19,419 Points (64th NBA History) 2,221 3-Pointers (13th NBA History) 4 50+ Point Games (T-31st NBA History) And because it is March Madness, let's call out that Jamal Crawford averaged 17/3/5 in his only year at Michigan during the 1999-2000 season. He finished 14th in the Big Ten in assists and 20th in the Big Ten in blocks!

@podoffame @bball_ref This is a simple take but how many times have players made all NBA under 65 games. It’s a large percentage. Cade will lose 50 million because of this and it’s stupid.

I am sorry, but if you can’t play in at least 80% of the games, you probably don’t deserve to win regular season awards. Only five NBA MVPs have gone to a player who played under 65 games. Malone won in a 50-game strike season. LeBron during a 66-game strike season. Giannis during 72-game COVID season. Cousy during a 72-game season. In NBA history, only Bill Walton would have been impacted by the 65-game rule.

The 65-game rule didn’t increase attendance like it was designed. Instead, it’s taken away deserved honors from some of the best players in the league.

1. We could really use more characters like Bob Fothergill, who hit the piss out of the ball and chased it with a giant steak and of beer, realizing his fortune and doing it day after day for love of the game. 2. How nuts is it that 5'11" 230 was once considered comically fat???

@notgaetti The $4 will also shield the annoying "experts" who couldn't make their middle school teams. -- Although I thought the $4 was a nod to Robin Ventura, who was #4 with the @Mets and played on twice as many NY teams as Gehrig.

The NotGaetti subscription feature has launched and I just wanted to drop a quick note about the sort of community I’m envisioning here: 1. The purpose, perks, and rhythm of this inner circle are driven by You People. Truly: this is about going deeper into baseball topics, non-baseball topics, letting you choose who gets featured on NEPTA, and generally giving you more agency and access to the things you're curious about. 2. Yes, the $4 is a nod to Lou Gehrig, one of my favorite players of all time. It's a nominal amount that thwarts the bots and burner accounts; just enough that we'll wind up with a self-selected inner circle of intellectually curious folks that really want to talk ball and build a community. I so enjoy bringing you baseball content on a regular basis and this is a great way to support the cause if you have been a fan of NEPTA or any of my other hardhat-wearing antics for a while.
Not Gaetti@notgaetti

Folks, it’s a momentous day in the history of NG Nation. As You People™ know, making content on here has been a no-days-off pursuit for me for many years and the community we’ve built together is the most amazing one of its kind. Now we’re stepping it up! x.com/notgaetti/crea…

This is the wrong way to think about it. The pitch was a ball. If he'd swung at it, even if he made contact, his chance of getting a hit was vanishingly small, much smaller than the chance the umpire would correctly call the pitch a ball. Not swinging was the right play.
MLB Scoring Changes@ScoringChanges

A side view of the final pitch from last night. Absolutely too close to take on a 3-2 count with two outs in the ninth and the tying run on base. It's closer than people think. #WBC2026

@danny_sexton3 The difference between never and 12 is infinite. And you can EASILY never strikeout looking if you actually prioritize that. He rightfully did not.

Is Jonathan wrong to say you never let a pitch that's too close go by? 100% yes. He rightfully didn't apply this logic to his own career and was very successful because of it. Here's the 127 times Jonathan struck out looking. He struck out looking because he was a GOOD hitter who understood that you can't cover every single pitch to every single location with 2K and have a chance for success. You would LIKE to be able to do that. But its not practical. Good hitter's strikeout looking because they understand the goal is to score runs, not "not strikeout". And to do DAMAGE at the plate, you have to let some pitches go so you can whack the other ones. A common theme I see in former players is as they become further distanced from playing, they "misremember" the things they actually did. Would 2014 Lucroy have said you NEVER take a pitch that's too close for strike 3? Well he did so 12 times that year (because he's a good MLB hitter). I can't know what he would have said then, but it would have been fresher in his mind that he DID take pitches too close to take sometimes. #results" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">baseballsavant.mlb.com/statcast_searc…

Curtis Granderson at his peak was a BEAST. By no means would I ever put him in the same category as Mike Trout, but the two center fielders share very similar career highs in several offensive categories: Runs: Trout: 129 (2012) Granderson: 136 (2011) Doubles: Trout: 39 (2013, 2014) Granderson: 38 (2007) Home Runs: Trout: 45 (2019) Granderson: 43 (2012) RBI: Trout: 111 (2014) Granderson: 119 (2011) Total bases: Trout: 339 (2015) Granderson: 338 (2007)
Jim Miloch@podoffame

Happy 45th Birthday, Curtis Granderson: 3X All-Star 2X Top 10 MVP Finish (4th in 2011) 2X AL Triples Leader 1,217 Runs (Led AL in 2011) 1,800 Hits (346 2B, 95 3B, 344 HR) 937 RBI (Led AL in 2011) .337 OBP with a 113 OPS+ 3 HR in 2015 World Series (5 G) What a fun career. Granderson pod is a must at some point.

@sqew_jake @notgaetti And the pathetic part no one's mentioned yet is that it could have landed in play. Instead of a triple, it would've been a single. In my day, the coach benching him would've been the best outcome he could hope for.

Here's one you're unprepared for: From 1995-2007 (their last 13 years in the league), Sammy Sosa had more hits, homers, and RBI than Barry Bonds despite playing fewer games (This includes Barry's reign as the GOAT and the year Sosa spent out of baseball as a Dominican diplomat)

If you think Baines is a hall of famer then you are saying being above average for a long time is hall worthy. He was NEVER elite. It’s the opposite of what you rail against with rate stats. Counting numbers don’t tell the whole story either. Harold Baines NEVER - scored 100 runs in a season - had 200 hits - had a 30 homer season - never walked 75 times - had a 5 war season - never finished in the top 8 of mvp voting in his own league He had 30 doubles in a season twice in 22 years. 100 rbi 3 times (barely). Had a 140ops+ 3 times. For a guy who only hit, he never did it at a HOF level

The only argument is Baines gets too much hate, which your statement here proves. When Baines retired in 2001, he was one of eleven players in MLB history to record 2800+ hits, 350+ home runs, and 1600+ RBI. Out of those eleven, only Babe Ruth had fewer plate appearances. Baines had a career few other players in MLB history had. Yes, he played a long time. If that were easy, everyone would do it. It is not though. Which is why he was able to put up career numbers that few other players have. Yes, he is the worst player on this list. No, that is nothing to be embarrassed by and definitely does not mean he should not be in Cooperstown.
Jim Miloch tweet media
Hugh Jupside@HughJupside

@podoffame You're comparing a DH (60% of Baines career starts) to guys who put up similar / better Offensive numbers while playing Premium Defensive Positions, in many cases at Elite levels. You've already lost the argument.
