@Aella_Girl @tracewoodgrains What was it about this space that made you panicky?
English

@tracewoodgrains a guy took me there on a date once and i nearly got a panic attack
English

wait, you’re telling me there’s a factory-sized playground in St. Louis, and I’m only just now hearing about it?
this place is incredible

Byrne Hobart@ByrneHobart
On the other hand, a slowly-dying city with a lot of excess real estate is a great place for weird stuff. It's hard to imagine the City Museum (google if not familiar—not what it sounds like!), one of the wonders of the 21st century, existing anywhere else.

@hormeze They can swim up to 7.5 miles?? Imagine being 3 miles off shore and seeing a swimming wolf, wth

@viemccoy @rmcentush Where are you getting the impression that space doesn't require manufacturing anymore?
Maybe for a company that does only on orbit ops? That does seem relevant for space war college, but idk if I would trust an ops team that doesn't check edge cases in the lab tho &labs need sqft
English

@electricdemon_ @rmcentush this is true but it doesn't have to be true. especially since a *lot* of space doesn't actually involve manufacturing anymore, and the best software talent is still SF.
English

there should be a space war college modeled after the naval war college.
postgrad-only, with one interdisciplinary degree that combines technical skills —orbital mechanics, systems engineering, cyber, etc. — with strategy: space policy, IR, and political economy. anyone can apply. grads would feed into the space force reserves.
in the 20th century, naval strategy defined global power. in the 21st, space strategy will do the same. we need new mahans, corbetts, and rickovers.
and of course, it should be built in the presidio or sausalito.

@fishPointer Everyone should be Neon Genesis Evangelion geofront maxxing

someone needs to step up and start building the diagonal elevators
John Coogan@johncoogan
If you’re building a hard tech company in 2025, you should prioritize getting a massive diagonal elevator platform installed in your HQ to make it easy to descend into the lower levels and access the underground portion of your facility.

@patio11 Civil engineering is so incredible, I love to see the field getting the appreciation it deserves!!
English

@MasterTimBlais It seemed very skill oriented and less directly 'dance to look hot' oriented, I wonder if that is why it has more men? Cause the skill tree -> social status is more clear?
English

@MasterTimBlais Saw this tweet earlier today & agreed with you, but this afternoon a friend invited me to hang @ a dance meetup & when I got there it was a vast majority men! It was a small popping session & very wholesome to see ~12 dudes all dancing
English

because when men stopped dancing we lost the masculine dance forms. now the available dance patterns don't speak to us. bring back masculine dancing
the Rich@Duderichy
why do women like dancing so much more than men
English

@nat_sharpe_ @SharpeMartha Wonderful!! Best of luck on all travels!
English

@CartoonsHateHer I love the back cut out and the classic buttons 😍
English

@Aella_Girl This is insanely impressive toe dexterity! I will put this on my goals list :)

@Romy_Holland Would my life be better if I hadn't been so restricted? Idk.
I plan to restrict my kids' screen time to some extent but idk how much yet
English

@Romy_Holland My screen time was quite limited in my childhood, and when I got to college I watched so much TV and did basically nothing else. Now I'm several years out of college + I don't watch much TV but the pendulum swing was wild and definitely not good for me.
English

i’ve often heard people claim that if you limit a child’s consumption of something like sweets or television, this will result in them overconsuming in adulthood, but this seems obviously false to me. i was only allowed small portions of dessert and very limited television, and i now rarely consume either. my partner is similar.
my guess is that unlimited consumption as a kid trains some sort of binge habit/desire. it’s also possible that the types of parents who would limit consumption also pass on a bunch of traits associated with self-control.

@DefenderOfBasic The meme potential of this image is so high, ty

looking at this viral tweet with our nooscope, we can see "copium island" in the top left

creekseeker@mudscryer
Is “one person can never meet all your needs” true or is that polyamorous copium
English

@AaronEstel I feel like this wording is slightly misleading, "every state in red"ales it sounds like LA county pop > the sum of all these states' populations, I think "each state in red" would be more clear

@LizzyStarrrdust @simonsarris Get a snake and for a short period you'll have both, and then you'll have just a fed car snake :P
English

@simonsarris Oh hey! I have a mouse that lives in my Subaru. I'd rather have a snake.

Twenty minutes of Enya and his mood is unchanged

The snake that lives in my Mazda is giving me saucy looks this morning
