These lights are being powered by a coal power plant which unfortunately releases harmful gasses into our atmosphere that are slowly damaging the ozone layer which protects us from harmful UV rays from the sun. #apesair @franklinlorax

There are flowers blossoming on the trees in my front yard. Living in the troposphere layer causes different weather patterns throughout the year. These flowers are blossoming due to the tilt of the Earth’s axis, causing spring in the Northern hemisphere! #apesair @franklinlorax

we live in the troposphere, also known as the “bad ozone” because of all of the harmful pollutants produced near the ground. this creates holes in the ozone, hence the “bad ozone”! #apesair @franklinlorax

vehicles can produce nitrogen oxides (NOx). these can result in acid rain & photochemical smog, a secondary pollutant made from NOx + VOCs + sunlight (O3 is also made in this reaction). limiting vehicular use is important to reduce these emissions! @franklinlorax #apesair

Kyle has lots of extra things plugged in that he isn't using, which uses more energy than he needs to, increasing energy bills for his family @franklinlorax #apesenergy

When I was getting gas I noticed the ethanol signs that we talked about in class. All gas stations are required to put 10% ethanol in their gas because it oxygenates the exhaust so water vapor is released. #moreecofriendly #apesenergy @franklinlorax

Whenever I am not charging my phone, I make sure to unplug my charger. This helps to save energy and reduce the amount of coal burned for electricity!! #apesenergy @franklinlorax

This is an electric car charging station, electric cars help limit pollution into the air and also cars that run on electric energy on average only need to be charged every 4 days! #apesenergy #franklinlorax

My house is powered by coal which emits CO2 into the atmosphere. Other energy sources like wind and solar energy are cleaner for the environment. However, the problem with these energy sources is that they vary in availability and intensity. @franklinlorax #apesenergy

Leaving chords plugged into an outlet can waste energy even when it’s not being directly used. That’s why it is important to unplug the accessories you are not using in order to be as energy efficient as possible! #apesenergy

My breaker box distributes energy all throughout my house. I am sure to turn off all facilities when not in use to keep my energy usage to a minimum. By lowering the amount of energy I use, I can reduce the CO2 emissions in the environment! @franklinlorax #apesenergy

This forest pictured is an example of an old-growth forest because the trees showed are over 100 years old based on their characteristics. This means that this forest has never been logged before and this shows good management! @franklinlorax #apesland

@CL508445apes @franklinlorax super interesting how other plants need certain amounts of nutrients to grow and thrive just like the radishes in class!

This is where my family grows a vegetable garden in the summer. Just like the radishes we grew in class, the soil here needs to have a specific amount of potassium, phosphates, nitrates as well as a specific pH in order to grow the vegetables we plant. @franklinlorax #apesland

This specific plant thrives with lots of water and natural sunlight, so for best growth we put it near a window and in soil that retains the right amount of water while still being porous enough to let air and water to all of its roots. 🪴 @franklinlorax #apesland
