@adamboxer1 I'm sure Labour said they were going to make it a maximum of 3 school branded items. I'm guessing most would go for jumper, tie and PE top. Sounds sensible so probably won't happen.

Judd Trump says he's "looking for somewhere to live" after leaving his Dubai home amid the Middle East conflict. He told WST: "I don't think I can go back there now in case I get stuck." "I'm looking for somewhere to live. I've been living out of a hotel." #snooker

@ItsAndyRyan There are Welsh cities, English cities and Scottish cities, but there are no British cities because Britain as a singular entity is a modern artificial construct.

I'm baffled by other Brits being narked by references to "a British accent". Saying "there's no such thing as a British accent" makes no more sense than saying there's no such thing as a British city.

@DaveHo1mes Surely if the ref was on City's side, he would've just given one of the penalty shouts rather than playing an extra 90 seconds?

Big six officiating at its finest tonight, how City get away without at least a couple of cards for cynical fouls stopping attacks is baffling, and the determination to play as long as they possibly could to give them another chance to score was blatant. If you’re not going to give the penalty for the Haaland incident, where you’ve seen them given but he does move his legs into Sels to try and buy it, then it’s a dive and should be punished, he threw himself down multiple times at the end, it’s cheating and something should be done about it.

@squelch1984 @trickytrees12 @BBCMOTD I'm saying in an incredibly short space of time, the ball changes direction and he's- arguably- trying shift to follow it. I can see why it wasn't given but reckon it would be 70% of the time. We didn't deserve it last night, no energy, no urgency. Can't be relying on refs.

@elseano85 @trickytrees12 @BBCMOTD He’s running directly towards the ball then changes direction to run into Sels. The entitlement of you “big 6” fans is pathetic, so used to getting every decision going! You won’t find anyone, other than Man City fans/players/ex players who say it’s a penalty

@squelch1984 @trickytrees12 @BBCMOTD He's knocked it to the left cos the keepers coming at him. If you then want to follow the ball, you need to plant your right foot to the right to push left. Watch it in real time, all happens within a second. No time for any great scheming. Clear as day.

@elseano85 @trickytrees12 @BBCMOTD On its own no it’s not, when it’s combined with knowing you’ve taken a heavy touch and won’t reach the ball, looking to see where the keeper is, and changing your direction of travel to deliberately initiate contact, it is! Blatant cheating 🤷🏼‍♂️

@BDubati @MrDanielBuck A lot of drawing and painting is actually quite analytical and logical. And a lot of maths is shapes and lines.

@MrDanielBuck My own suspicion: - Math brains can do well in reading, but otherway is not always true - Art brain is distinct; facility with Math or Reading is not going to do anything when it comes to Art

Just saying, the idea of “math brain” versus “reading brain” versus “art brain” or whatever is largely false People who have a high general intelligence largely excel at all of them. Same in the reverse.

@Chels1an Is the technology making correct calls at the moment? Endless arguments about frame rates, tolerances etc. if it's not obviously wrong, go with the onfield decision. Football worked fine for 100 years without VAR and there's still 100 other totally subjective incidents every game

"but it kills the flow and the emotion" i literally never want to live in a world where my team could concede a goal on a call that is demonstrably, factually wrong, but I'm forced to accept it because "the vibes are better if we do it quickly" horrible. worst possible outcome
InsensibleCFC@Chels1an

The amount of people on FT who think a time limit for offside VAR decisions is a good idea is baffling Can't believe anyone would accept that we've the technology to make correct calls but would prefer incorrect calls stand because they don't have the attention span to wait

I guess it depends on what you mean by best. I think for a lot of regular people, they care less about innovation or pure musicianship than they do about simply finding songs that they like and want to listen to and sing along to. And The Beatles were fantastic at that, may be the best.

I own a lot of Jethro Tull. I own all of Led Zeppelin. I own a lot of Yes. But I only have a "best of" remaster for The Beatles' top-most hits. For a reason. In their moment, they were the greatest Boy Band hit machine anyone had ever seen. But they also suffered colossal audience capture as a result. And it cost them. By 1969 the stress of grinding out catchy Top 40 had doomed the project. They were neither the best musicians, nor the best song-writers. Merely, the best "product" for a radio era which demanded it of them.
Edmund@Kulambq

I've always had this subtle intuition about The Beatles that Piero Scaruffi here articulates.

Was Citizen Smith the only British sitcom to directly poke fun at leftists? It was sort of the anti-left version of Till Death Us Do Part. The latter was intended by its creator to be an anti-right satire, but there were plenty of viewers who shared Alf Garnett’s reactionary views and identified with him.

@HMaisy72 @ManCity Maybe if they twig how much atmosphere affects results, they might see sense. They could make maybe a million extra quid packing the place with tourists for one night or they could make several million getting to the next round.
