It would be one thing if gentrification was just a media phenomenon & obsession but it’s not — its outsize narrative presence drives policy and investment decisions.

Where I definitely do see gentrification in Detroit is in Detroit’s story, especially as told to the rest of the country. Not really sure that’s a typical meaning of “gentrification” but whatever, it’s a malleable term.
