Over at @thedispatch, I have a new essay on the current anti-feminists. While taking their argument about the failure of American society to value the work of the home seriously, I seriously disagree with their approach. Among other things, I hear from conservative, female Gen Y that the current strain of anti-feminism is making it hard to date reasonable guys or get taken seriously in college ... something I definitely don't want impacting my daughter (or my sons!)

Josh Hawley's GUARD Act is like a case study in basically all the ways bad tech legislation can be overbroad, unrealistic, play to public fear, and be motivated by the idealized 'good old days.' In other words, it's everything Hawley has been working toward his whole career.
Competitive Enterprise Institute@ceidotorg

The Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to hold a markup on the GUARD Act tomorrow morning. The bill is meant to protect children, but its mandates for AI chatbots and AI “companions” will do more harm than good. @alex_reinauer shares why bit.ly/4eCjXd6

“Screw it, I'll just pay out of pocket." “Direct primary care, longevity clinics, concierge medicine, self-insured employers routing around PBMs - all the same impulse dressed up differently. The American healthcare consumer is voting with their wallet to exit a system they no longer trust”

My view leaving dinner tonight. I don’t care what your politics are. Worshiping a politician like this is not a mark of a healthy society.

Mind you it’s not age gating, it’s IDENTITY GATING. There is no such thing as “age verification” it’s ID verification. I think we need to stop using the term age verification bc it’s an industry term that obfuscates the reality of what’s happening.

What should we make of the girlboss? I argue in today's @WSJ that she's both an indicator of social progress and a catalyst for economic inequality. 📰💅🧵

There’s a point that I didn’t get to make my WSJ piece this week that I want to make on my own. Australia just executed the purest version of what I am warning about. No parental override. No opt-in. A flat ban on under-16s holding social media accounts. And it is enforced on the companies. This is decidedly NOT pro-family. 🧵
The Wall Street Journal@WSJ

From @WSJFreeEx via @WSJOpinion: The chattering class is fully on board with the notion that politicians, not parents, know what’s best for kids—even among conservatives who have long opposed state intrusion into family life, writes @ckoopman on.wsj.com/4mIdIqk

.@ckoopman critiques Haidt's approach "He thinks there’s a collective-action problem: Even well-intentioned parents lose when every other child is on the platform. Social pressure, network effects and engineered engagement overwhelm individual choice. But once you accept that framing, parental consent stops looking like the primary safeguard of child welfare, and instead becomes an unfortunate loophole. If the problem is collective, then individual parental decisions become part of the problem rather than the solution."
Abundance Institute@abundanceinst

"I am unwilling to cede my parental decision-making to politicians who don’t know my children and increasingly seem convinced that I am incapable of deciding what’s best for my own family." Our CEO and father of 7 @ckoopman in @WSJ @WSJFreeEx on age verification proposals

There's a growing consensus that we need to regulate how chatbots help people who are dealing with mental health issues. But what if doing so actually made the problems worse?

"Merely making products that people like and find useful is decadent, Palantir suggests. What tech companies should really be doing is delivering 'security.' And by security, we seem to be talking about robot weapons and a domestic police state." reason.com/2026/04/20/thi…
