Har levererat årets viktigaste bok till Sveriges nyfiknaste 82-åring. Boken följer Demis Hassabis väg via spel (Bullfrog/Theme Park!), neurovetenskap, entreprenörskap och den, skall vi i dessa tider säga, religiösa jakten på artificiell generell intelligens (agi) med AlphaGo, AlphaFold och kapplöpningen mot OpenAI. Mallaby har inte skrivit en klassisk techhjältebiografi. Det är delvis en sådan bok. Givetvis. Men det är också en bok om !makt och makt! som Patrik Wallström skulle skrivit det. Det handlar om vem som får bygga maskiner som kan överträffa oss i ”intelligens” (vad nud et är) vem som finansierar (inte alltid intressant) och om vetenskaplig nyfikenhet verkligen kan hållas isär från geopolitik, kapital och kontroll (nej). Den stora frågan som hänger över hela projektet är nästan Oppenheimer-lik. när man väl har byggt något som förändrar civilisationen, kan man då fortfarande hävda att man “bara” ville förstå intelligens? Det går för den som inte är lika bra kompis med mig som @sven43 är utmärkt att lyssna på boken hos Spotify - jag har gjort det och det är en bra inläsning - går dessutom att kombinera med pappersläsning med Spotifys nya funktion där du fotograferar sidan du är på (så kommer du dit i ljudboken): open.spotify.com/show/299CHjVT6…

@Flyh_builds People really need to differentiate the use of Generative AI, language model AI, and other type of stuffs.
Calling all AI bad and generalising it under "AI" to make a point is like calling Red Alert 2 bad because it had AI computer controlled enemies. ???

- 1 frame in N pointing S?
- 1 frame in NE pointing SE?
- 2 frames in E pointing SE?
- 2 frames in W pointing SW?
- 2 frames in SW are the same when it should walk?
...and why are there 2 frames per direction when it says 4?

I can't believe that Nvidia looked at this "AI on top of games filter" and said to themselves this is the future of gaming.
Like it or not, this is where Nvidia is heading and they're calling it neural rendering with DLSS 5.
The examples they've showed reminded me a lot of those AI generated filter videos on top of GTA V, except that now it is supposed to run in real-time.
Honestly, I don't like this current look at all
