@m_nwwn1 @muchnerve An algorithm like that seems to be correctly tuned - to the app's best interests. A "dating service" is incentivized to keep you dating, to keep trying, to keep you single. If a wedding planning service did a dating app, they'd clean up the competition in both markets.

haven’t been on dating apps for four years. am i missing out on anything or are they still hell?

@erwinEmm Tried mastodon. They really need to work on their onboarding and UX. Aint nobody got time to figure that stuff out. Been looking into spoutible but honestly not a fan of any social network. Truth is we're not the customers, we're the product. Wish there was a better way

@AdamHelsinger meh, I don't worry about the instances. You can follow just about anyone on any instance. I use it pretty much like I used Twitter. Try migration tools like debirdify.pruvisto.org to find the mastodon handles of people you follow here

@JoshuaBaer ok, fair enough. But consider that running a Mastodon instance is within an individual's capability. A CF instance could assign accounts to staff & members, which among other things would confer proof of affiliation. ActivityPub is an open protocol, high innovation potential

@stevesanderson If you put that handle in your bio then migration tools like debirdify.pruvisto.org and fedfinder.glitch.me can help others find you. There will likely be a flurry of last-attempts to do that before those tools are killed in 2 days. You can also tweet it and pin that tweet

@willywoo Ok, I hope that move works out for you. As far as I know ActivityPub isn't compatible with Nostr and I don't have the bandwidth to build on or use another platform. I did find this bounty for a bridge though, that'd be interesting gist.github.com/fiatjaf/ea7d21…
