@evakiwi @PronouncedHare Do. Not. Resuscitate. In order to resuscitate, you must be dead first. Has zero to do with keeping you alive. It is my job to ask for DNRs and wishes in a dying patient, bud. By law.

When my grandmother was 99 she had a pacemaker fitted. They flew her to Wellington for the operation. Before they went the guy asked her if she wanted to be resuscitated. She said yes. The guy then asked her again, explaining that it can cause quite painful injuries. She was a completely capable woman of full mental capacity and said yes she understood and please resuscitate her if she needed it. He then asked her a third time, telling her that her quality of life might be different. At that point, my grandmother turned to my father and asked “What does he want me to say?” and Dad then intervened telling the now very defensive guy to knock it off. That kind of low level pressure happens in the health system every day.

@MurfittTauranga We are paying the highest rates in the country, $9k on average. Add insurance around $5k Where does he think ratepayers are going to find water rates as well. My friends in Sydney pay $2800 in city rates. No wonder we all want to move across to Oz.

Andrew Little has announced that household water costs will significantly increase. Up to $6,000 per year over the next 10 years. He appears uneasy, stressing "under the law". What are your thoughts?

@GCElLLC @PronouncedHare Easy…when they deny you medical aid to keep you alive, they are assisting you in dying. I have seen foreigners being asked to sign DNR they don’t understand. It’s not a medics job to ask you if you want to be resuscitated. I’ll stay home if want to die, not go to hospital.

🇺🇸🇮🇷 The U.S. is reportedly scattering land mines across Iranian soil for the first time since 1991 Images from outside Shiraz show American BLU-91 anti-tank mines dropped from aircraft near ballistic missile sites. Four munitions experts confirmed they're from the U.S. Gator mine scattering system. At least one civilian is reportedly dead, a 31-year-old father. The Pentagon won't comment. But the tactical logic is clear: Iran's mobile missile launchers operate from mountain roads near these bases. Scatter mines across those roads and the launchers can't move to fire positions. Last year, Hegseth reversed the Biden-era ban on land mine use. Now we're seeing why. These weapons have a self-destruct feature that can detonate hours or days after deployment, and they're sitting in residential areas where civilians are already warning each other about "metal cans" on the ground. The U.S. hasn't used scatterable mines in combat since the Gulf War. Thirty-five years later, they're back. In neighborhoods. Source: Washington Post

A big thanks to the ONE MILLION subscribers and for the 45 million views over the past month. Please like, subscribe, and share so we can double this number by the end of the year. * My main motivation for this podcast is to discuss the dangerous time we live in, as the world must adjust to a multipolar distribution of power. After the Cold War, security was based on the notion of a liberal hegemonic peace, in which stability depended on the uncontested dominance of the Political West rather than on mitigating security competition between the great powers. During this era, we developed a powerful ideology that assumed peace could only exist under liberal hegemony and sovereign inequality. We insisted that our dominance was a “force for good” and even stopped discussing the security concerns of rivals. Unipolarity is already gone and has been replaced by a multipolar world—yet we still continue to follow the rules of a hegemon to the detriment of our own security. The wars against Russia, Iran, and future war with China will predictably end in tragedy as a workable peace is ignored, and the reluctance to recognise the security concerns of adversaries will continue to result in self-delusion. BREAKING: Trump just said that Pete Hegseth was angry that there may be a settlement in the Iran war. He said that Hegseth doesn’t want it to be settled. "I don’t want to say this but I have to… Pete didn’t want it to be settled." In other words our Sec. of War doesn't want peace, he wants war.

The Epic of Resistance 🎼 This is not just a symphony. This is what resistance sounds like. Composed by Majid Entezami, the Epic of Khorramshahr is not played… it is remembered. It carries the echo of the Battle of Khorramshahr during the Iran–Iraq War... when a city was shattered and occupied… then reclaimed by a people who refused to disappear. They believed fire would silence it. They believed steel would break it. They believed time would erase it. But they misunderstood something fundamental: You can destroy buildings… but not belief. You can occupy land… but not dignity. Listen. The violins do not mourn defeat— they rise like voices from beneath the dust. The drums are not war— they are the pulse of a nation that never stopped beating. The crescendo is not sound— it is return. Like Jerusalem… Khorramshahr fell— and then Khorramshahr rose — and so too will Jerusalem. And in its rising, a message was written into history: That oppression is loud… but resistance is eternal. Today, the same rhythm echoes— in every people who refuse humiliation, in every nation that stands when it is told to kneel, in every voice that says: enough. The oppressed the world over, do not hear this music as the past— but as a covenant. A promise carried across generations: That injustice exhausts itself. That arrogance overreaches. That truth, though tested, does not break. This is why the melody does not end. It advances— from rubble to resistance, from resistance to resurgence, from resurgence to victory. History has a pattern: Empires arrive with certainty. They leave with silence. But those who endure— write the final verse. And so the symphony continues… not as memory alone— but as prophecy. Victory is not a moment. It is a direction. And those who refuse to surrender are already moving toward it… They see victory—and joy and smiles— in Tehran and Gaza, in Beirut and Sana’a, in Baghdad and Jerusalem… in every city with a resisting soul and a tight fist... as candle by candle is rekindled, and as light by light is ignited across the world… until the darkness fades, until racism ends, and until supremacism dismantled.

🚨🇮🇷 BREAKING: Iran just made the one threat that could bring the Gulf to its knees Iran's military headquarters warned that if its energy infrastructure is attacked, all energy, IT, and desalination facilities belonging to the U.S. and its allies in the region will be targeted. Desalination. That's the word that matters most here. Gulf nations get most of their drinking water from desalination plants. One report estimated that hitting Saudi Arabia's Jubail plant alone would force the evacuation of Riyadh's 8.5 million residents within a week. Trump just gave Iran 48 hours to open Hormuz or he starts destroying power plants. Iran just responded by putting a target on the one thing Gulf nations can't survive without: clean water. 🚨🇺🇸🇮🇷 BREAKING: Trump gives Iran a 48-hour ultimatum to fully open the Strait of Hormuz or the U.S. will obliterate their power plants, "starting with the biggest one first." Three weeks of "winding down" talk just ended with the most aggressive threat of the entire war. Destroying Iran's power grid would plunge 90 million people into darkness and trigger a humanitarian catastrophe. The next two days will define everything. Source: Truth Social

As Turkish and Greek people, the overwhelming majority of us DO NOT WANT WAR. More than 100 years ago, imperialist powers pitted these two nations, who had lived together for 1000 years, sharing their bread, their bulgur, their onions, their hunger, poverty, and wealth, against each other. As a result, thousands of people died on both sides. Yes, there are still political problems between these two countries today. But we must clearly acknowledge that these are FAMILY MATTERS. They are NOT anything more than a father's two sons having problems with each other. Are the Greeks my enemies? Why? Because their religion and language are different? Is it because I call it cacık and they call it tzatziki? We are capable of solving our own problems, and that's what we will do. The Turks and the Greeks both received and shared much culturally. If I asked a Greek person what their favorite food was, they might say moussaka, beans, or baklava. If you ask me, I'd say lakerda, fava beans, or bonito. We are like two different lights emitting from the same lamp. Of course, in both countries there are fanatical warmongers. But sensible Turkish and Greek people don't want such tension. WE DON'T WANT A FRATRICIDAL WAR. No politician will be able to turn brother against brother for their own interests. We will not sacrifice either the Turks or the Greeks, neither Türkiye nor Greece, to imperialist games. #Iran #IranWar

In January, I was the loudest voice on X criticizing the Iranian regime. Result? All regime supporters flooded my comments calling me a ‘zionist’ and an ‘Israeli asset’ Now, as I criticize this war (I’ve always been anti-war), some pro Israeli hawks voices are labeling me a ‘regime sympathizer’ The same happened during the Gaza war: I got called both a zionist and an anti semite, and received death threats from both sides Here’s my stance so you don’t have to guess: - Very critical of the Iranian regime. What they did in January was horrific - The current war is a mistake, and if the objective is regime change, then I am very worried about Iran’s future as risks of civil war increase - I am very critical of what Israel did in Gaza and the West Bank, and more nuanced on their attacks on Hezbollah and Iran - I believe Hezbollah should be disarmed - The U.S. objective in this war is control of the Strait of Hormuz, to beat China in the AI race. I’ve always said I want the U.S. to win the AI arms race, as I do not want to live in a world where AI is controlled by an autocracy - As an Australian citizen, I am a believer in our democratic way of life and have always been critical of anyone threatening democracies (EU, Brazil, Pakistan). But this does not mean I support the various interest groups pushing our world into endless wars - As the son of a religious Christian family, I respect all religions, but don’t think religion should ever justify wars Did I miss anything?
Mario Nawfal@MarioNawfal

Why am I against this war? As someone who's been EXTREMELY critical of the Iranian regime, so much so I was labeled 'zio' by many, I've always advocated AGAINST regime change through military means The reason is simple: In over 100 years, there's been ZERO successful regime change operations without boots on the ground And we're seeing this play out right now: The Iranian regime's grip on power has strengthened under bombardment, and they've become even more brutal in suppressing dissent If the U.S. conducted a very limited military operation to give Iranians the chance to bring down the regime, then maybe I would have been supportive (assuming the country does not descend into civil war) But seeing Iran get bombed daily, Israel and the region get attacked, U.S. troops die, and the global economy cater... this is not what I envisaged for 2026. I want the U.S. to win against China I want the regime to fall I want Iran to be a democracy I want Hezbollah's military arm gone I want Lebanon and Iran to normalize with Israel But a prolonged war with Iran is NOT the way to achieve any of these goals
