Very cool! I’ll also note a new feature I noticed this week on @united app — they have a “boarded” counter live tracking boarding passes scanned out of total passengers booked so you can real time monitor progress. Great new feature and one of its kind!

This. AI driving down cost for software development means you’re even more likely to rely on vertical SaaS, not build it yourselves bc the opportunity cost is just as high AND the thing you were buying (e.g. compliance, complexity) was never just the software.

Anthropic employs world-class engineers who could build an HR system in weeks. They use Workday anyway. The reason tells you exactly where enterprise SaaS is headed. Building HR software requires knowing labor law across 50 states and 100+ countries. Payroll tax compliance changes quarterly. Healthcare benefit structures shift annually. One classification error creates seven-figure liability. No engineering team wants to own that surface area. The maintenance burden compounds forever while delivering zero competitive advantage. This is why enterprise SaaS moats actually strengthen with AI. The value was never “we built software you couldn’t.” The value was always “we absorb compliance risk and regulatory complexity you don’t want.” AI makes custom software cheaper to build. It doesn’t make compliance cheaper to own. Workday’s real product is liability absorption, and that product just got more valuable as build-vs-buy calculations everywhere else shift. The companies getting disrupted are the ones selling capability. The ones selling risk transfer are about to have their best decade.

@RakeshSFNYC DST exists because it’s the best compromise. They removed it once in the 70s and it was so bad, they switched back after one year! Imagine the backlash it took to make congress so responsive! Surely we have enough AI tools to research this and end the debate.

@RakeshSFNYC People can complain about NYCT but the Express train is one of the greatest things ever and almost nobody else has it. There are few things in life as satisfying as flying past the local stations on an Express.

@FreightAlley Also, we literally did this in the 70s and everyone hated it so much, they switched back after one season. Then too, people thought they’d love it. Turns out, it sucks. It’s rare we get such a policy A/B result. So many policy things to test, this one we know the answer to!

@FreightAlley As a parent with young children I’m against this bc I don’t want to have to get them up and to school in pitch dark half the year. It’s not only demoralizing, it’s dangerous (road/pedestrian/bike safety). FL would be one of the hardest hit states for AM darkness.

@RakeshSFNYC @slcairport My home airport is @FlyTPA which is the nicest, easiest, and most convenient of its size anywhere. I don’t understand why so many new build terminals are steps backwards in design.

@RakeshSFNYC @slcairport Fair. But there’s a bag check at rental car area in garage complex before you cross the roadway (albeit up 1 level). And then you go straight to security, pretty convenient.

New @slcairport , final verdict: meh. Would rank below DTW and MSP.
Biggest knock: it’s a generic airport that could be anywhere. There’s nothing that makes it obvious in its design where it is.
Contrast with LAS, LGA, SFO, PDX, YVR. All get you into the feel of the city / state before you step out.
