@lpachter Spell out the mistakes made and potential solutions. Observations about loss of trust and fingerpointing at all elite university leadership is a hollow gesture. Hypercompetitiveness for lucrative majors and careers is a much more tangible problem that is widely remarked on.

@lpachter I find Fareed’s (and others’) arguments frankly hard to follow. DEI policies are bad so we need new policies to address equity and inclusion BUT we shouldn’t call them DEI policies? Also universities need to limit speech for safety but when they try, the outcomes are bad?

His framing of DEI as being about "safe spaces, trigger warnings, and microagressions" is also a gross misrepresentation. If we're going to talk about DEI in Ivy League schools let's talk about Yale first admitting women in 1968, Princeton 1969, Dartmouth 1972. 5/

@NKWhiteman I’m not certain what point the author is making. He seems to object to the idea of shared LGBT community/visibility because the essence of LGBT identity is otherness? Recommending that queer people self-actualize on their own is not equitable, even if some may prefer it.

Also with @JackNaritomi we profiled binding of dominant negative Diamond-Blackfan anemia mutant RPS19. Surprisingly we saw an increase in CDS binding. Using Skipper's repetitive element output we also saw increased tRNA binding signal.
