@onetrainops @zachariahassler the warm tone of it isn't the studio ghibli piss filter ai typically puts, based on the rust overlay it's just a stylistic choice

Merlin Entertainments penny pinching: extreme edition
Another Merlin/Aramark special at Chessington @CWOA. We visited on 25th May when it was 33°C.
Vampire Burger Kitchen for lunch (yeah, it’s Aramark slop, but it was too hot for a packed lunch). As is now the norm, Passholders can’t use the self-service screens, so we queued 22 minutes for the single till.
We ordered four meals and four soft drinks, only to be told both post-mix machines were broken. Fair enough. We then asked for Frozen Fanta instead, only to be told that both of those machines were broken, too. Water? Out of stock.
So: no soft drinks, no Frozen Fanta, and no bottled water. On a 33°C day, they had no cold drinks.
The staff brought out cans as a substitute, but instead of refrigerating them, left them sitting in the heat (pictured). They were still charging full price (upwards of £3), naturally.
Then came the strangest part. A staff member offered us pre-poured soft drinks left over from before the machines broke (also pictured) but admitted they didn’t know what was in each cup. We could buy them as a “lucky dip”. Full price still. We declined.
We also discovered ketchup now costs 50p per sachet at CWoA despite meals costing £15–20. The self-service sauce station had been removed, so if you wanted sauce for your hotdog, you had to buy extra ketchup. Had the same experience at Alton Towers recently.
No napkins, either.
When I asked for more ketchup, a staff member replied, “I think you have enough already” (wtf?). I pointed out we had two hotdogs and there was nowhere to get sauce. She shrugged.
Meanwhile, several managers stood chatting while guests complained about the lack of cold drinks. Eventually another manager helped us out, agreed the hotdog sauce situation was ridiculous, and gave us extra ketchup free of charge.
I asked why the cans weren’t being refrigerated. He claimed they’d only just arrived. We’d already been there over 30 minutes and they’d been sitting there the whole time.
I know Merlin F&B has been declining for years (*cough* Aramark), but having cold drinks available on one of the hottest days of the year feels like a basic expectation.
After leaving, we went to buy bottled water from the nearest shop and discovered the drinks fridge wasn’t working properly. Everything was warm. 🤦🏻♂️ AC was decent though. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at that point.
To end positively: ride ops and availability were excellent all day, and overall we still had a good day.
But cold drinks in 33°C heat, sauce for hotdogs, and napkins really shouldn’t be controversial asks, @MerlinapUK.
It really needs looking into. Cc @ChessingtonBuzz @TowersStreet @TowersTimes @AttractionSc @Ridecomparisons @ThemeParkWW @Coastertog @DigitalDan7 @dean8001

@Fammypoop @ThorpeGuide the lobster cartoon is probably the biggest pointer of this being human made, as it is symmetrical with no ai artifacting with clear shading that makes sense with the object's shape
