@donkilmer @charlescwcooke Abolishing, or attempting to abolish the Senate is a fundamental break of the Constitution. At that point, all bets are off.

The desire to abolish the Senate displays a fundamental ignorance of how an American government is supposed to work. Preserving “life, liberty, and property” through some form of representative government, means that the government owes a duty to each of these nouns. The House represents designated aggregates of living corporate individuals, i.e., the “life” of every citizen. The Senate represents the states or places (i.e., the property) where they live, which includes the local customs, dominant industries and agriculture—a way of life. Human beings are not disembodied abstractions. They have to live on land somewhere, they have to work on that land, they must exist in some place (or jurisdiction) they call home. Given the size of the United States, our unique brand of federalism is the only thing holding the country together. Why? Because it recognizes that a New York financier, an Iowa grain farmer, a Texas oilman, a California entrepreneur, a Montana cattleman, a Florida author, and an Alaska hunting guide are not going to want a Washington, D.C., bureaucrat mandating how they must arrange their daily lives—but they all do have one thing in common. They all want to live a life secure from foreign invasion, and have certain basic human rights guaranteed. With its flaws corrected by civil war and subsequent amendment, our Constitution fulfilled that. The 17th Amendment has already done much damage to the synergistic mechanism of American federalism and bicameralism. Abolishing the Senate is the shortest path to another civil war on this continent. Repealing the 17th Amendment is the surest way to forestall any further decline in our great Republic.

The fun thing about this is that, per Article V, the Senate can’t be abolished without the consent of all 50 states, so this is functionally indistinguishable from a call to abolish the Constitution.
Washington Journal@cspanwj

.@DemSocialists co-chair Ashik Siddique (@ahSHEEK) says the DSA would abolish the Senate: "We do believe that government should be proportional to the population…We just don't see the point of the Senate."

@garrytan Are you willing to do what it takes for actual change? Backing "moderate" candidates that you just hope won't vote lock step with the machine doesn't cut it.

I’ve made a huge mistake. A few days ago, I decided to “just try factorio real quick” (for the first time). I went to bed at 5am every day since. When I close my eyes, I see the belt sprawl, lane splitters, inserters. Idk how I got here, all I know is: The factory must grow

@octal I’ve been in [shared] offices, cubes, tight pack open floor plan, and desk based open floor plan. Almost ended up some place that did bench style open floor plan, but evidently dodged that arrow. I suspect the older gen reluctance to RTO is related to seating.

@Browser1972 @Butterknifeopr8 Nah, you've been _on_ bikes for 20 years. You've given evidence that you've never actually _ridden_ a bike. I bet there's more chicken strip on your tires than wear.

@Butterknifeopr8 He's practically hanging off the side of the bike. I've ridden bikes of all sizes for over 20 years, done 150k miles on them and never had to lean over like that.
