I think revealed preferences in this would be a lot different, and probably even this out among the sexes. Men in practice don't put up with morons, especially if they themselves are intelligent. What seems to happen is that men think they want a stupid woman, but they would actually find a stupid woman genuinely exasperating and annoying. Very intelligent women also learn quite early to downplay their intelligence, so men may also be assuming that they are smarter than past partners, when the reality is that they attribute assertively challenging others to intelligence, and very smart women know that they do not get very far in life behaving like that.

Kinda gets tricky.
On the one hand, I devote a decent amount of time on some weekends to grilling and cleaning up my weber afterwards, which is theoretically housework.
OTOH, the reason I spend that much time on it is because I insist on using charcoal instead of gas, so it's more spent time on hobbyism than a chore.

Men routinely overestimate the amount of childcare and housework they do. Women underestimate how much they do and overestimate how much their husbands do. One solution: dads should commit to doing 70% of the work and it’ll wind up closer to 50-50.
