بصراحة .. المقارنة بين مصر ودول الخليج العربي أنا ابن مدينة الإسماعيلية، على قناة السويس، وأذكر في أعقاب هزيمة يونيو أن الزعيم الحنجوري عبد الناصر الذي ملأ الدنيا صخبا وضجيجا وعجرفة قبل أن يموت ذليلا مهزوما مكسورا، وقد كان يعدنا بفتح تل أبيب وإلقاء إسرائيل في البحر، ثم أصبح بعد "نكسته" عاجزا عن حماية سكان مدينتنا، فقام بتهجيرنا إلى مدن الدلتا وإخلاء المدينة بالكامل تقريبا، لأنه يعجز عن حمايتنا من القصف الإسرائيلي، وعشنا سنوات في هذه التغريبة الداخلية، أنا وإخوتي وبعض الجيران هاجرنا إلى بيوت أجدادنا في الزقازيق وطنطا، لكن كثيرا من الأسر لم يجدوا لها بيتا تسكنه، فكانوا يسكنونهم في المدارس، ويتم تقسيم الفصل المدرسي بين عدة أسر برجالها ونسائها وشبابها وفتياتها وأطفالها، يفصل بينهم ستارة، قارن ذلك بأداء دول الخليج العربي اليوم، التي تتعرض لعدوان إيراني مجنون وقصف همجي يوميا، ومع ذلك لم تهجر مواطنا واحدا من بيته، وتمضي الحياة بالمواطنين والمقيمين شبه عادية، وتبسط الأمن والأمان والسكينة على الجميع، مواطنين وضيوفا، تعرف الفارق بين الجعجعة والخطابية الاستعراضية التي يصاحبها التخبط وهوان الوطن والمواطن عادة، وبين التخطيط العلمي والإعداد الهادئ البعيد عن الجعجعة، والذي يصاحبه الإنجاز والتوفيق وأمان الوطن والمواطن عادة. أنا أقدر شعور المصري باعتزازه ببلده، وتاريخه، وحضارته، وأنا مصري أعتز بمصريتي إلى أبعد حد، رغم الآلام، لكن يبقى من المهم جدا، والمفيد أيضا، أن نحترم تحولات الواقع، وأن نحترم إنجازات أشقائنا، خاصة في الخليج، وأن لا نتكبر عن الاستفادة من تجربتهم، ما وسعنا ذلك، الخليج لم يعد نفطا وحقول غاز، الخليج ليس مجموعة من البدو امتلكوا ثروة يعبثون بها، الثروات النفطية التي توفرت للعراق وليبيا والجزائر أكبر من التي توفرت للسعودية وقطر والامارات، فانظر هنا وهناك وقارن، لتعرف أن النجاح ليس مجرد ثروة، ولكن إدارة الثروة، الخليج اليوم بنية حضارية شابة، ومتطورة، ومنظومة حياة حديثة ومتفوقة، في التعليم والصحة والعمل والرعاية الاجتماعية والتقنية والبنية الأساسية والاقتصاد وجودة الحياة، ومن ضمن ذلك التطور بنية عسكرية حقيقية متفوقة ومتطورة، وتمتلك أحدث الأسلحة ووسائل الدفاع، وانظر إلى نجاحاتهم المذهلة في التصدي للهجوم الإيراني الساحق تعرف معنى ما أقول، لقد أرادت إيران أن تحول دبي إلى غزة، أن تسويها بالتراب، وارجعوا إلى إحصائيات عدد الصواريخ والمسيرات الانتحارية التي أرسلها العدو الإيراني عليها، أضعاف ما أرسله على تل أبيب، فلم تفلح إيران في عدوانها وانكسر سيفها بدروع متينة وحديثة ومتفوقة، أعدت العدة مبكرا لمثل هذا اليوم، فلم يضروهم إلا أذى، وتمضي الحياة اليوم في دبي وأبو ظبي والدوحة والرياض والدمام والكويت والمنامة بصورة اعتيادية آمنة، مع استثناءات محدودة للتأمين، لأنهم في الخليج، مع منظومة الدفاع، أسسوا منظومة موازية من الحماية المدنية الحديثة للطوارئ تعمل بكفاءة عالية. النخب المصرية التي ما زالت تعيش عجرفة الحقبة الناصرية، ونحن الذين كنا نرسل كسوة الكعبة ونحن الذين كنا نرسل المدرسين، ينبغي أن تنزل من أبراجها، وتنظر حولها جيدا، الدنيا تغيرت، ولا بد من الاعتراف بأن أشقاءنا سبقونا، نجحوا وفشلنا، الخليج اليوم يمتلئ بكوادر علمية وتقنية وطبية وهندسية وإدارية درست في أرقى جامعات العالم، في هارفارد وييل وستانفورد وبنسلفاينا ومعهد ماساتشوستس للتكنولوجيا الأعلى في أمريكا والعالم، وعادت إلى أوطانها تصنع نهضة بلادها، على النخب المصرية أن تتذكر أن التاريخ إن لم يكن دافعا للتطور والتفوق يصبح عبئا ومعطلا عن النهوض، ومخدرا يشل طاقات العمل ويورثها الكسل، أمريكا دولة عمرها 300 سنة فقط، بلا تاريخ ولا حضارة، لكنها اليوم تسود العالم وتهيمن على الكوكب كله، ونحن اكتفينا بالغناء لحضارة عمقها 7 آلاف عام، مع الأسف نحن في مصر تعاملنا مع تاريخنا العظيم كمخدر، نغني له وبه، ثم ننام، فلا نفعنا تاريخ، ولا تعلمنا من الواقع. لا بد من أن أعترف بأن بعض ما يصدر من كتابات وتصريحات في مصر اليوم، خاصة من النخب والأسماء المعروفة، في الإعلام أو الثقافة أو السياسة أو الأدب أو حتى الدين، هو بدوافع مرضية، شعور بالحسد، مختلط بشعور بالعجز والإحباط، يتكلم أحدهم من طرف أنفه عن الخليج وأهله، ولو نظر بصدق إلى نفسه وحاله لاستحيا من نفسه، ولا أقول استعر، لذلك تلاحظ شماتة بعض هؤلاء "المرضى" في دول الخليج العربي إذا أصابهم مكروه، ومحاولة التقليل من شأنهم، بدافع ذلك المرض النفسي، مهما تمسحوا بفلسطين أو أي قضية أخرى، وسوف تلاحظ هذا المرض بين مؤيدي السيسي كما تجده بين عناصر الإخوان المعارضين للسيسي، الكبر نفسه والعجرفة نفسها، في الموقف المسيء تجاه دول الخليج، وكأن من يملي عليهم هذه "المرارات" جهة واحدة، أو أنهم يستقونها من منبع واحد، وقضية فلسطين تبقى دائما هي الستار الذي نخفي به هذا المرض والحسد، رغم أن موقف مصر من قضية فلسطين خلال النصف قرن الأخير على الأقل هو أسوأ كثيرا من أي موقف خليجي يمكن أن ننتقده. لقد نجح أهل الخليج العربي، وحولوا ثرواتهم إلى طاقات بناء ونهضة وتطور وجودة حياة عالية هي حلم أي شاب مصري اليوم أن يذهب إليها ويعمل فيها ليهرب من الطاحونة التي تطحنه طحنا في مصر، ونحن تخلفنا، بسبب سوء الإدارة نعم، وبسبب فساد سياسي وإداري نعم، لكن أيضا بسبب عجرفة نخبة فارغة منتفخة كبرا وغطرسة، على الفاضي، وتتوارث هذا الاستكبار العجيب جيلا بعد جيل، وتسمم به عقول العوام والأجيال الشابة وتضلل وعيهم عن جوهر أزمتهم، وأسباب تخلفهم الحقيقية، وبالتالي تضيع عليهم طريق الخروج من هذا البؤس الذي يعيشون فيه بلا أمل في ضوء آخر النفق المظلم.

@stalkermustang You assume fixed cost of training these kind of models. Hardware + Algo will reduce the cost where this level of model capability for a lot less.. the frontier on the other hand will be always closed.

Even if we get a Mythos-level open-source model in the next 12 months (which I expect we will), I think the era of massive OSS drops is coming to an end. 3 reasons: 1. Compute & Capital. A final run at this scale is >$300M. Algorithmic gains won't save you—I doubt we'll see even a 0.5 OOM reduction compared to Anthropic's highly optimized stack. There are maybe ~20 players globally (including China) who can afford to play at this table, and most of them are profit-oriented. 2. Regulation. Unless the CCP is totally asleep at the wheel, I fully expect them to ban open-sourcing models above a certain capability threshold. Pressure on labs like @deepseek_ai is already real, and it’s only going to escalate. Same in the US. Model to the party, not the people. 3. Economics. Models like GLM and Kimi aren't printing money; their combined revenue is a drop in the bucket compared to the big US labs. If you train a model that can do $300M/yr in real-world economic work, do you open-source it? What about $1B? $3B? We're rapidly approaching a threshold (I think it's somewhere close to Mythos-level models) where the financial incentive to keep weights closed becomes absolute. Ultimately, a shrinking pool of capable players + brutal economics will change the game. TL;DR: I doubt OSS will keep pace over the next year, and I expect the gap to widen. Happy to be proven wrong though—curious to hear your thoughts (cc @Bayesian0_0 @teortaxesTex @zephyr_z9 @xeophon @natolambert).

@Dimillian Codex still doesn’t understand what it is sees when it tries to verify its work. Things like missing subtle gradient etc.. very frustrating

Mythos is the GPT-4.5 with reasoning we all wanted except it's available to practically no one but I fear that OpenAI will just release their massive reasoning model to general public, which would set a bad precedent basically the prisoners dilemma

@davidzmorris See posts like this makes llm skeptics lose credibility. This paper test old small models (2024 models) which everyone even back then knows they can't do math. The frontier LLMs today clearly can do math ask Terence Tao.

Again and again people are "discovering" things that are obvious from a basic understanding of LLM architecture. The cost we pay for a tech industry full of people who think code is magic

Apparently an LLM only ever activates a small % of its weights at any given time. Imagine the power if they activated all the weights. We'd have AGI already

@_vgnsh @steipete He’s not wrong though. I love codex and 5.4 but in openclawn it is useless. Doesn’t follow instructions, doesn’t feel like 5.4 at all not sure why. And I am not trolling I really love both openclaw and 5.4 but together they don’t work
