Yet, NVIDIA initially claimed DLSS 5 is aware of the in-scene geometry, lighting and other in-engine variables and takes all of them into account when in work. You don’t need anything other than the frame to upscale. ALTERING the frame requires more data though.

@fatalution @MisterSpace3 @deltasyn Every frame displayed is technically 2d TV screens are flat after all, that's also how all scaling works it buffers the frame then runs it though an algorithm and creates the extra pixels.

This slop overexposes everything and places every character it sees under inexistent studio lights, ignoring the actual scene’s light sources. Moreover, this filter doesn’t know about the scene as it only works with 2D frame

@Darrenstwitter @deltasyn Exactly mocap gives the hyperreal performance data no hand-keyframing alone could match, then animators tweak. DLSS 5 does the same for lighting/materials on the exact assets devs created. Both push beyond pure hand-craft. The hypocrisy stands!

DLSS5 makes this look like an AI generated dating profile picture used to scam an old person in another country. Just looks like every other AI generated image of a "person." No character or soul to it. Art loses what makes it impressive when it all looks like generated slop.

What I do have problem with is AI slop substituting actual creativity and being sold as something “better” than actual creative work. It looks like shit - plain and simple.

The problem, and I know this is hard to follow, is that it... looks like shit If you smeared dog shit on a camera lens, lit someone's face up with about $8,000 of studio-grade 5500K lighting, and then added some lipstick, you get DLSS5. It looks like shit. It's that simple.

@GamersNexus Oh come on now, that's hyperbole. I'll have to see more examples in action, but this looks decent IMHO. Heck, I'd argue that the "original" face has more of a model look. The DLSS 5 version looks more realilstic.
