Exactly. Do you have any idea how long ive been waiting to watch 8-4 NC State vs 9-3 Nebraska in a playoff game that renders the regular season meaningless? Let's goooooooo
Alicia de Artola Castillo@PenguinOfTroy

I think people are telling on themselves about the CFB regular season. We’re obsessed with how losses impact the top teams as though that’s the only thing that matters. You know what a 24-team field does? Makes SO MANY MORE games matter for so many more teams.

Hollywood and TV never put Greeks into their movies or shows on Greek epics (or Roman too). That's how it has been since the movie industry started. I'm not even talking about the stars, even just background characters. When it makes Japanese history films, it casts Japanese actors. When it makes Nordic epics, it casts Scandinavians. Medieval English or French stories usually get English or French actors. Native American films cast NA actors. Even, Christopher Nolan himself has done a historical film on Dunkurque and cast British actors. The reason is most people see Greece as medieval Europe with sandals. Medievalism.
Bizlet@bizlet7

The fact that Nolan chose zero Greeks is kind of a slap in the face to source material. The Northman had Alexander Skarsgard play the lead and the Odyssey couldn’t throw one bone to Greece.

@flugempire That would have been great. Miami lost two games they shouldn’t have and needed a little luck to make it. That’s how it should work, instead of them being guaranteed a spot

Miami made it into 12 team CFP because BYU did not win Big 12 CCG. Miami was 1 play away from winning National Championship. How does someone seriously explain (Example-Rece Davis) that CFP should remain at 12 teams? 12 team CFP no longer captures all who can win Natty.

@BYUSportsNation @slmandel Shill. Not sure why he's being given a platform here. But regardless, a 24-team playoff gives a team like BYU an actual chance at the playoff, since they clearly don't have a chance under the current system.

@ByuSome America was clamoring for and deserved to see Texas Tech vs BYU, Round 3. After the prior two results, it was inconclusive who the better team was and BYU 100% deserved the chance to get a third try at Texas Tech in the playoff

We're talking about 24 spots for 134 teams. You have to win (at a minimum) 9 games to be on the bubble. One loss can drastically affect seeding As far as I can tell, wins and losses still matter.
Stewart Mandel@slmandel

@PenguinOfTroy Wins AND losses. If they don't matter, why play the season. Skip straight to 24.

@PenguinOfTroy That’s exactly the problem. Having Arizona vs ASU be a play in game while the iron bowl and Michigan vs OSU become games about seeding is not my idea of improving the regular season.

I’m writing something about this currently actually. In 2025, every game involving a ranked team would have had massive stakes in the final week of the regular season. ASU vs. Arizona would have been a play in game.

Tne ACC, Big 12 and ND now support the B1G’s 24-team Playoff. The SEC is the last holdout. If they cave, say goodbye to the greatest regular season in sports. If you love college football, it’s time to stand up and make your voices heard. nytimes.com/athletic/72777…

@fieldcmdr The best regular season in sports doesn’t have teams winning 90%+ of their schedule and miss the post season. If college football has the best product it would consistently outperform the NFL but it doesn’t.

Any conference and school that is ok with playing lower level CFB should drop down to FCS DONT DRAG US DOWN WITH YOU @pac12 @American_Conf @TKGould @Tim_Pernetti @SunBelt
Jimmy Mad@jmufbandstuff

@UNLVRebelGrl @TBM_JY @1BroncoBeliever Yes, and I’ll take it a step further. We need to part ways with those schools. The G6 could become the G2 or G3 if we narrow it down to schools that are actually interested in competing at the highest level.

@huntermsn1 Fair enough. It’s still the best reg season in sports and if BYU went into the final playoff rankings 11-1 they should have made it. But they had to play TTU again and lost again. We should get rid of CCGs. This way BYU could have made the playoff and been blown out there instead

I'm convinced so many CFB fans don't actually like CFB. They just like the idea of CFB. "But recruiting rankings!" "But betting odds!" So many hate actual games, lol. Imagine being like, "Well that NFL team doesn't have a top 3 QB, so why are they even in the playoffs?" "They wouldn't be favored on a neutral field, so why even let them in?" I don't hear this in other sports. I don't get it.

I love college football. I think P4 teams that go 11-1 in regular season deserve a CFP berth.

This whole belief that big time games at the end of CFB season will not have any meaning because teams won’t be concerned with seeding and having a home game in playoffs or 1st round bye will be proven false so quickly it will be soon forgotten anyone had this opinion in 2026.

Two things that will absolutely happen if there is a 24-team CFP. * Players will demand to be paid more to play an extra round of games. * Agents of some top picks will recommend they opt out rather than take on the extra injury risk. Even NFL players don’t play 5 rounds.

@joshuahein @MoveTheSticks I think fans of teams like Iowa have deluded themselves into thinking they can continue having their solid if unspectacular seasons of 8-4 or 9-3, and then make a magical run in the playoff and win a title. It will not happen. If you can’t make it at 12, you will not win a title
