It should be insulting the translator doesn't have faith in you to grasp simple metaphors and infantilizes dialogue, it's more bland and removes characters' quirks and charms.

Starting today, all new cars registered in the European Union must include a driver monitoring system. The system uses a camera or sensors to check if the driver is paying attention to the road. If the driver looks away for too long, it will warn them with a sound or visual alert. This new rule only applies to newly registered vehicles from July 7, 2026. It does not affect cars already on the road. The EU says is to help prevent crashes caused by distracted driving. The system is designed to monitor the driver inside the car and warn them if they lose focus.

Crunchyroll didn't even bother trying to localise Reid's "omee" quirk. Real shame, given it's so characteristic to him. Really flat translation.
They also went for the literal "follower/s" instead of something more natural like "lackey" or "crony"...
