Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

Brandon Johnson and Brandon Johnson alone owns this. His repeated downplaying and excusing of these teen riots (which used to be twice or three times a summer but are now a weekly occurrence) has given them an implicit green light. I can think of no leader in this entire nation and throughout history who is so personally and directly responsible for the mayhem we endure. He sits atop the Hall of Shame for the worst urban leader in modern times. What a complete disaster and disgrace he is. He should resign in shame and be run out of town.

A driver plowed into a group of CPD officers who were working to contain a huge gathering on the Near West Side overnight, injuring 4 cops and at least 1 other person, according to preliminary info. About 500 people were at the street party. cwbchicago.com/2026/05/driver…

The Economist on the U.S. economy’s consistent growth outperformance relative to other advanced countries: “America’s outperformance began decades ago, but in the 2020s it has become vast. And it is likely to last. The latest IMF forecasts show American growth besting the rest all the way to 2030 and beyond…. Many of America’s advantages are hard to emulate. The country’s continental scale, single language, natural-resource wealth and the fiscal space that comes from issuing the world’s safe asset give it a unique economic advantage over Europe… But America also shows just how much other rich countries are failing to live up to their economic potential.” #economy @EconUS @TheEconomist

@michaeljknowles Let me put this in a way everyone understands: When Donald Trump leaves office, there will be no world leader left to enforce a deal. The regime in Iran will then go back to enrichment because it will be safe from consequences. Short term, short lived nonsensical deal.

One of the chief arguments against a peace deal with Iran is that we already had one under Obama. Speaking with a senior admin official, I’m hearing any viable deal would have to be much tougher: no pallets of cash, of course, but also no more stockpiles of enriched material, and no permission for further enrichment. Alongside the near-total obliteration of ballistic missile production, such a deal at this stage—if a deal is reached—would put U.S. strategic interests in a much stronger position than before.

The notion that only natural-born citizens are entitled to America's opportunities is bizarre. No one *earned* being born in the United States. It was luck. Immigrants, meanwhile, have to sacrifice & fight for the chance to build a life here. It's beautiful that so many want to.

Note that, unlike Kaepernick, Dart didn't do this on the NFL's field, on its airtime, in its uniform, at a game; this was his own speech, his own dime, his own time.

During his election campaign, Donald Trump promised his supporters he would be their “retribution”. It was assumed that Democrats would be the target of his wrath. But it is becoming clear that Republicans are Trump's victims, a move which could cost him dearly in November’s midterm elections ⤵️ telegraph.co.uk/us/politics/20…

After surviving the beach assaults in Sicily, Salerno and Anzio, on May 23, 1944, T/Sgt. Van T. Barfoot was ordered to lead an assault on German positions near Carano, Italy. He went out alone and crawled to within feet of a German bunker. He tossed a grenade inside, killing two Germans and wounding three others. He then moved to another bunker nearby and killed two more German soldiers with his Thompson while taking three others prisoner. As he made his way towards a third MG position, the enemy crew decided to just surrender. In all, 17 Germans gave themselves up to him. In retaliation, the Germans organized a counterattack on his position, sending three tanks toward him. Barfoot grabbed a bazooka and stood 75 yards in front of the leading tank. His first shot destroyed its tracks. He then killed three of the German tank crew members who had attempted to escape. The other two tanks, witnessing the destruction, abruptly changed directions, and left the field of battle. Returning to his platoon, he helped carry two wounded U.S. soldiers almost a mile to safety. For his actions, he received the Medal of Honor and a battlefield commission to 2nd Lt. He then went on to serve in the Korean War and later in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot. His other military decorations included the Silver Star; 2 awards of the Legion of Merit; the Bronze Star; 3 Purple Hearts, and 11 Air Medals.

7 GOP senators voted to CONVICT Trump of INSURRECTION after Jan 6. With Bill Cassidy's defeat, only 2 of those senators are still serving. Susan Collins Lisa Murkowski. Collins is in a Democrat district, but Trump won Alaska by 13 points. It's time to DUMP Murkowski.

You may not know about this story, but former NFL QB Teddy Bridgewater went back to his high school to be head coach and was suspended a year for using his own money to pay for his underprivileged players' Uber rides, meals, and athletic recovery services. DeSantis signed a law allowing coaches to use $15k of their own money for underprivileged kids.

I'm sure there are stupid people here." "There are stupid people in the United States that make dumb comments all the time. I don't know what else to tell you other than the United States is a very welcoming country."
