This whole thread/article is just depressing. People are just fucking dumb now. They create their own realities because everyone just gets news from social media that is tailored to confirm their biases.
Like this kid is like 'i hate the tariffs. if you know anything about tariffs the costs are paid by the consumer!' and yet he voted for the guy whose literal only economic proposal to combat rising prices was TARIFFS!!!
Make it make sense...you can't.

@SqueezeMetrics Methinks. China containment has been major foreign policy priority for last 15 years, but now that policy seems to have gone from a choreographed tango in previous admins to overt aggression and hostility with current admin. Purely speculation on my part. Just how I see it.

China doesn't deserve its success and Europe doesn't deserve its stability. Both of these advantages have only been at the pleasure of the United States, and they don't seem to understand that. So they will be *made* to understand it.

@stewhampton @SqueezeMetrics I'm not saying I agree with NATO being a cost, just that I think that's how this admin sees it. I tend to think our alliance with Europe is a good thing. Not sure this group in power necessarily cares that much about it.

@firstlawofvol @SqueezeMetrics That seems a pretty myopic read. Don't have to fund defending Europe/US bases so US defense budget goes down? There are downstream impacts that offset/outweigh any fiscal savings surely.

@SqueezeMetrics Yes to both, I think. But in the past we've been ok with it because of aligned values. But I think crushing China by any means necessary is priority number one for this admin. Playing this game is a delicate balance and requires nuance...in short supply with this group.
