@CosmicStudio28 @TheChaosWeeber You mean the 20 million people who live in southern Quebec and Ontario. I don’t think it’s a bad idea but Ontario and Quebec have more than enough ways of generating revenue to pay for it themselves. Doug needs to stop subsidizing every industry whose worked he needs votes from

@TheChaosWeeber I live in NL and I wouldn't benefit from this. But that doesn't matter when you take into consideration the 40M+ Canadians that would actually benefit greatly from this.

How the fuck can Canada ever prosper when people only care about their own province instead of the country as a whole? People like you are who hold Canada back
Berg98@Gbergo98

@JigglyPants44 @OgiOgilthorp HSR is only benefiting a fringe minority. They can pay for it

@profitseekr @GhostEightThots But they need to either add more arc enemies that aren’t reskins of other arc or “what if these different arc had a baby” type enemies. And they need to be faster at addressing bugs or stop tweaking the guns and minor issues. Always seems to make worse problems

@profitseekr @GhostEightThots I agree with this so much. Arc has been way more agro since the mid March update really discouraged pvp. The new update with close scrutiny is fun, the loot drops feel worth it and vaporizer is fun to fight.

I'm so done with ARC Raiders. Used to play the game for hours. Now, maybe an hour at best. The developers don't have a clue and got lucky it's popular because post launch is a joke and shows they don't know wtf they're doing. The matchmaking based on aggression is just ridiculous and completely destroys what should be randomized encounters keeping you guessing. Instead, you know exactly what you're going to get 90% of the time depending upon your previous behavior in prior lobbies and is easy to manipulate.

@LukewSavage You do realize that most ndp voters are not blue collar workers. The cons are just trying to pick up the more social conservative voters from ndp but LPC picked up the more progressive side, especially with trump being the ballot issue

The oft-invoked story of blue collar NDP voters switching to the Conservatives gets disproportionately emphasized. That certainly happened in 2025, but even in seats the Tories gained from the NDP the bigger story was often that it bled votes to the Liberals.

j'ai pas besoin de te faire confiance. je viens d'ottawa et j'ai habité à montréal. ma seule conclusion c'est que ton français est tellement poche que c'était pas mal plus simple et rapide de parler en anglais.
Mimi@fried_kale

@nxd1979 Lmao I was an anglophone Canadian living in Quebec for three years. Trust me, they were not “almost always delighted” with my French. They simply looked at me like I was retarded and patiently waited for me to stop talking so they could respond back in English

It reflects his more American frame of mind. He's dismissing two elements that were historically central to both founding peoples of Canada: for Anglo-Canadians, the British Crown and its institutions; and for French Canadians, the preservation of their culture and identity.
J.J. McCullough@JJ_McCullough

At root of why I’m considered so CONTROVERSIAL to some in Canada is that I have very strong opinions on two odd Canadian issues that tend to be very triggering to some: the stupidity of Canada’s ties to the British monarchy, and the undemocratic nature of official bilingualism.

@Harfangbleu @bridgecrewdave In response to your final points before the quote. I disagree. 1)Francophile canadians are often excited to speak with Quebecers in French. And purely anglophone Canadians don’t want to go to Quebec other than Montreal (maybe). 2) it is English everywhere else. Yup

But Québec is the epicentre of French Canada, which is a core component of Canadian culture, and predate both the arrival of the British and the foundation of Confederation. French Canadians are, alongside Anglo-Canadians, founders of it. We are not immigrants expected to assimilate into Anglo-Canadian society Technically, by coming to Québec, one is choosing the French side of that said Canadian culture, through Québécois culture. My statement only expresses that I might have a broader understanding of Canadian culturel, while yours seems to deny this key component of it, showing a more limited understanding of it. "Quebec is part of Canada". That alone shows how much bilingualism is one-sided in Canada : - When in Québec, Anglos expect to be spoken to in English because, after all, Québec is part of Canada. - Outside of Québec, it's in English only, because after all we're in Canada and French isn't largely spoken elsewhere. Like we often say in Québec : le Canada est un pays bilingue de langue anglaise... After that, don't ask why there's resentment from our part.

@rebeccarightnow @ajoajoajoaj @MobyDickSpoiler Despite the fact that a lot Canadians outside Quebec can go most of their lives not even hearing French. the official bilingualism means that bilingual candidates are considered far more than anglophones. Tho I do think the AC CEO should have had statements in each language

@rebeccarightnow @ajoajoajoaj @MobyDickSpoiler Not his take at all really. His only point is that French is hard to learn as an adult, especially if you aren’t in an area with any French speakers which is all of western Canada pretty much. He’s lamenting that bilingualism is so “essential” to the elites of our country (cont.)

@DanFmTo @sarobertsonca To be fair Nathan Cullen is a much more common (and far better) guest pundit than Mulcair. Unfortunately the media just can't resist putting "former NDP leader" in their headlines.

JP: We heard from former NDP leader Tom Mulcair. He said that you know you should be in the House to take on the Liberals if you want to be a viable opposition leader Avi Lewis: Thank you for giving me the opportunity to say that I have no intention of taking advice from Thomas Mulcair

@DanFmTo @sarobertsonca While Mulcair does have the former ndp leader label when he goes on ctv, I find that most of his advice and political is from the perspective of an opposition leader. I’m not sure but I’d say the ndp of today and mulcairs day are vastly different

@mcrandomfaces @_mika60_ Exactly, that's why I said that the Canadian tv and film industry is quite small, even smaller than the UK TV and film industry. I'm making a point why they're prioritizing Canadian homegrown talent, cause Canadian actors Don't often get worldwide recognition.

I really want people to understand that the Canadian film and tv industry is incredibly small, like smaller than the US obviously, but also than the UK. Foreign actors used to be nominated for the Canadian Screen awards. Now, they're prioritizing local homegrown talent. 1/2

So called environmentalists have been saying this about nuclear power since the 70s, and they've doomed us to climate catastrophe over a potential future issue that has shown no evidence of materializing in 70 years of nuclear power.

@Mareusque @FortySacks I agree that Albertans and newfs are closer now with many newfs working in fort mac for the past 30 years. But the primary settlers in Alberta were Eastern European I believe. I’m just curious how you find them similar

@Mareusque @FortySacks Elaborate on that. Newfoundland has a slightly more complicated history (it was its own country for a short time, but Canada got Newfoundland while it was under the dominion of the British) and most settlers are from Ireland and England (not many scots or welsh newfies). What’s Canada’s “fourth” city? Vancouver, Edmonton, and Calgary are pretty clearly the top 3 but the 4th is more ambiguous. I feel like the main contenders are probably Red Deer, Lethbridge, Winnipeg, or maybe Montréal
