God is Great. ੧੩੧੩. It’s official I have finally received the wire today, bringing the total to a little over $2.6 million, along with four previous payouts of $55,000 each. This would not have been possible without the support from @TheStrongTrader and every single person who reposted, liked, and helped spread the word within minutes. I am truly grateful to the trading community from the bottom of my heart. I started my trading journey in 2023, but didn’t start learning properly until April of last year. This milestone is a testament to what faith, discipline, and hunger can accomplish. @ApexTradeFund @realchristfguy

You know, as great as AI is... it sucks at pinscript. I don't know how many times I've tried to use ChatGPT, Gemini etc to code the most simple TV indicators... Like literally marking the initial balance on the DAX and it just gets error after error.

@Trader_Dante I’m inclined to say yes with this in mind: price is price but characteristics differ to a point where the butterfly effect can wreak havoc, I would want him to prove himself in this market; I would definitely be negotiating for less size and if I’m proven wrong, rounds on me!

One more: You’re the risk manager heading a desk of traders. One of your best traders has a long track record of success in Govt Bonds. He has only ever traded them and knows them like the back of his hand. He’s a maverick that sometimes takes big risk in certain situations but over the years it’s played out very well for him. One day he comes to you and says he wants to take another high risk position. You’re comfortable with it because he has a proven track record to back it up. However, he wants to do it in a market he’s never traded before. You’re comfortable there is enough liquidity to handle his position and he assures you “price is price” no matter what asset class. Do you sign off and give him the limits or insist he sticks only to what he knows?

Imagine you’re a trader at a prop firm. The traders have a 10 lot max and €400 a day loss limit. One of the traders, a desk over, goes all in 10 on the first trade, a minute after the open, hits their risk limit and stops out for the day a few minutes later. The head of risk argues: “Why not have traded a 2 or 3 lot? You’d have stopped out and still had a lot of ammo left for the rest of the day?” The trader replies: “I thought that trade would very likely be the best opportunity of the day!” Risk replies: “But you can’t know what the best opportunity of the day will be until the day has ended!” The trader answers: “I think you can”. Assuming you don’t know the track record of the trader in question, which side of the argument would you take? The risk managers or the traders?

@PKycek @robuxio_com The purist “turtle traders” would say that you need 20 years of backtested data to really show the outliers in the data; hence why I have MR mindset when it comes to timing with a hint of TF when it fits

Mean Reversion vs Trend Following: What strategies can make money in this non-trending period? Definitely not trend strategies... Mean reversion deliver profits. Just the opportunities are reduced because of the reduced market volatility. It is worth having both approaches in the portfolio.

@BearNecessiti15 @oxbquant I achieved some progress in the past playing around with unit root testing, but after a while it seemed computationally cheaper to chase trends But then again I you could think of time spent in ‘UR zone’ as a trend 🤔
