@sibarnes2000 @davidflatman I think it was Sky News that stated we would be the only developed economy to charge VAT on education.

@davidflatman Labour won so it’s their right to do it however I think there may be unintended consequences that will prove counter productive as a money raising measure. If I was them I’d set the rate at 5% to start and see how it goes. Incidentally VAT on education is illegal in the EU.

VAT on private school fees: Is there anyone whose kids go to private school who welcome the idea? Is there anyone whose kids don’t, who think it’s a bad idea? So far I’ve only met “it’s a joke” paying parents and “quite right too” non-payers. Peaceful answers only please.

Strike cancelled but it isn’t really as much reduced service. First three trains not running on the Cheltenham to Paddington route and then cancelled on the way back. Be far better to say you were on strike than pretend you weren’t! Ridiculous conditions!

@KateAllenby @WorldPentathlon I struggle to see modern pentathlon without the riding element. Whilst I love to see it in the olympics should we really change the sport in such a material way just to enter a four year event. The big issue is of course funding!

@JoeChoongy Does Modern Pentathlon need the Olympics if they are to fundamentally change the sport? Should we go independent. Olympics is the pinnacle but forcing such change reclassifies the sport and all it’s history. Need to improve the riding not change the sport. UPIM running scared

Riding in our sport isn’t perfect- everyone saw what happened in Tokyo. Athletes & coaches have known there are problems, but it’s hard to make the sport safer for horses, and athletes, when the UIPM won’t even consult us on literally the biggest decision ever made for the sport!

I’ve been riding horses for 11 years as part of training for Modern Pentathlon. Please help us stop @WorldPentathlon from removing horse riding from the sport we all love. #savepentathlon #keepthehorses

With a son who just completed his first pentathlon he is concerned his dream and hard work will be over before it began!
